Technology now increasingly defeats distance, but geography does not disappear: It merely becomes more claustrophobic on a crowded, contested and interactive earth.
Robert D. Kaplan, “Why Trump Can’t Disengage America From the World,” The New York Times (6 January 2017)
Time-Space Compression
The internet is used in many ways with just the click of a button and the placement of satellites all over the world for individuals to use the internet . The internet is used on today’s modern technology by many people such as through a cell phone or computer . An example of this is how people in society use an app called Twitter , to find out about things going on around the world , this is a quick way instead of tuning into the news.
This is an example of time-Space compression because the internet is used as a quick way for people to find and share things going on around the world.
Time-Space Compression
I went on a student exchange trip to China in 2015. Both before and after the trip, i kept regular contact with the family that would be hosting me. Such a trip and communication would have taken months, if not longer, in the past. however, thanks to advances in transportation and communication technology, i was able to talk to my host family in real-time, and i only had to deal with about ~18 hours of traveling each way.
Time-Space Compression
Cell phones can be used to send text messages and make calls, they allow us to communicate with people across long distances within a matter of seconds. I consider the cell phone as a great example of time-space compression because it is an advancement in technology that has allowed for the people two communicate without the obstacle of time and disperse information instantly.
There were times when people had to write letters or travel long distances just to relay a message and would have to go along time without a response or an update but now you can send a message instantly and receive a reply just as fast.

This picture represents "Time-Space Compression". And goes into further depth into explaining how technology is shrinking the world. Well,in other words how the human race has evolved over time in traveling speed. Also how time consumption on getting to places and communicating with people all around the globe has lessened over the centuries that has passed. This is a very strong key holder in anthropology because it shows some general development of the human race. From how people used transportation in the past and to how they do so in the present.

What would’ve taken days or weeks to get somewhere now take a few quick hours. Mobilization has shorten in time. Getting to and from a place has shorten in amount of space taken. An airplane shows a positive representation within time-space compression because it allows people to connect or get to place they may weren’t able to get to at first.
