The tale of Piperia and Mintia part 3
Every sailor looked up at her.
“Your captain has given up command of this vessel, including your contracts. I'm your captain now.”
The crew was silent, most wearing shocked looks.
“Now, I want to see the first mate in my cabin!”
She walked in to the cabin, followed by an almost lanky cougar.
“You called for me ma'am?”
“Yes. Since we'll be working together closely, I guess I should tell you…
“Captain Crowley never gave you the ship, he's dead, and you're doing this so you can avenge your lover.”
“Uhh, yeah, pretty much.”
“Yeah, the crew's not going to take that too well.”
“Well, do you think my lie will hold out?”
“If you've got my support, it will for now.”
“And do I have your support?”
Piperia bit her lip. The old captain had said that his first mate was popular, and this sailor was in an excellent position to claim the ship. Without his support, she didn't have a chance.
“...yes, I'll go along with this.”
“Yes. I'm a bit too much of a romantic for my own good, apparently. Your story is touching. So, what do we do first.”
“Well, three captains were responsible for the attack that killed Mintia. Captain Half Moon left cold harbor on the north island a few weeks ago, and was last seen headed in this direction.”
“So we get ready here, while he heads in this direction. When he shows up, we lure him into a good position, and then we strike.” He illustrated his last point by slamming his fist into his palm.
“Good. And the other two?”
“Well, I honestly don't know where they are. Captain Silver Quill has been laying low, and as for Blood mane, well, it seems like he's everywhere and nowhere all at once. I honestly don't know how I'll find him.”
He sighed. “Well, I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.”
“Yeah. Hey, I've heard a lot about you, but I never caught your name.”
“Everyone calls me One Fang.”
“Why do they call you that?”
He smiled, revealing that he was missing his left canine tooth. “My older brother knocked it out in a fight when I was 12.”
“I take it that you two didn't really get along well.”
He shook his head sadly. “No. We never did, and we probably never will.”
“Well,” she shook his hand. “We've got a lot of work to do…”
