Merely surviving but not living. That's what my life was without meaning, without purpose. I had thought I've accepted it. That it was just is. Things go bad and things go good. That you couldn't control it. Nor that you should. Because life still happened. Whether yours went rough or if things went smooth. Even if it felt like a storm where you get swept all around without control. Even when that small light that was once a flame now seems little in comparison. Even if being in a crowd still felt lonely. And even if you felt hopeless and lost. Life still went on. And time still passes by. But without meaning, you're merely surviving, not living. And when all seems lost. When you almost stopped trying to make sense of everything. Even when it all felt nothing. When you're about to lose control and hope over what the universe decided, it comes to you. It came to me. In the form that I had once lost. A person that I almost lost again. That person gave me meaning. And my whole shaky cynicism about everything was turned upside down. That person made me rethink what I felt like before. That there's still hope. That even the chaos inside Pandora's box ended. It does get better. And even when that darkness comes, the sun rises back. And that it's another thing that happens. Which I just then opened my eyes to. With this person who then gave me meaning. Someone that gave me purpose. And don't get me wrong. I know you think it's bad to base your happiness in a person. It's the person who's my happiness. And happiness like this come in different forms. It may be someone for me. It may be something for you. Or either way, but it's true. And what you do once you have it is all on you. I'm keeping mine. I'm never letting go. Even when I can't, I still will, hold on. Confusing I know but it is what it is. It gives you meaning. And when something or someone you once lost came back, what do you do? You do more than what you can to keep it. And that is when you'll know. You're now living.
