"The Flood: End of Mankind"
Before I go on my AI rant, this is not me hating on anyone's religious choice. And while I am not a Christian myself, I have been brought up with many of those beliefs. I believe "The Flood: End of Mankind" is an overall good story to tell. There is nothing wrong with creating a film based on religious texts. I'm only here to put my two cents in regards to AI and film.
Also note, I am trying to get my major in film and aspire to be a film director. I have networked with people around where I live and am trying to find jobs within my community that would further my knowledge. I have also written many papers on AI and animation for multiple college classes.
This soap box started the moment AI really became a thing, and I haven’t gotten off that soap box yet.
I believe I heard of this movie a couple weeks ago when one of my family members sent this. My mom came to me to see if I could tell if AI was used in the trailer or not. Spoilers, most of it uses AI for large scenes, and for the ones it doesn't, it’s clear the creators used poor greenscreens for every shot that includes an actor.
Production for AI films is sadly nothing new, but after reading many comments on the trailer, it was obvious people were excited and didn’t understand how this film was made. Furthermore, the email my family member sent also included what seemed to be a fundraiser and call for more producers for the movie which is set to come out on October 2, 2026.
Technically, there's nothing wrong with needing more financial support, seeing as most films aren't done in post until three to twelve months before the release. This however, is different. A film using AI as its backbone needs more financial support from people. If you know how AI affects animators, you’ll understand the hypocrisy with that statement.
Secondly, I’m not a fan when people fall for AI. To understand just how bad it can be for people, I’d suggest watching anything by Jeremy Carrasco and the Corridor Crew on YouTube. While there is no real harm in watching an AI movie like this, anyone going to see this is not only watching slop but also funding said slop and the soulless creators behind the project that ultimately don’t care about the story they are telling.
Comments like, “So look forward to seeing this film - will bring my youth group” and “Amazing jump in Quality” makes me fear for the minds of humanity.
Like I said, I watched the trailer a few weeks ago and commented on the use of AI in it, as well as a short promoting the film. But today, I searched for it again to see if anyone else left comments such as mine, and discovered that at some point, the main channel took down the video and short and reuploaded it five days ago (March 7, 2026.) It’s the exact same trailer as before.
Obviously, I couldn’t leave the ‘new’ video without recommenting the same thing. I also found a short showcasing some behind the scenes footage. I believe the uploader is a producer for the film. Here’s the short if you want to see it.https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Wv899sdoaHc.
I said “Seriously? You had to resort to greenscreens and AI? Yeah, I'm sure God would love ai.” I didn’t think anyone would reply, sadly they usually don’t. To my surprise, less than an hour after commenting I received a reply from the poster.
“God loves everyone and god love Ai because it’s a personal helper”
Maybe it was because I had just watched a BTS of an upcoming film I’ve been excited about, but every part of me wanted to respond the best way I could…Write a short essay!
“Does He love the fact that AI has impacted the environment, something He created?
According to The London School of Economic Sciences, “Data centres can require enormous volumes of water for cooling, and tend to be highly concentrated in certain locations, threatening local water supplies. In 2027, global AI training and use are projected to account for 4.2−6.6 billion cubic metres of water withdrawal.”
AI is also displacing many jobs in tech and customer support, banking, freelance writing, and animation. As someone aspiring to be part of the film industry, I believe AI has no place in it.
While I recognize its potential for assistance, the widespread job loss, copyright issues, and deepfake/consent concerns make me and many others hesitant to support a film using AI.
Although I don't think AI is killing live-action films, I struggle to comprehend why any filmmaker would choose to use it. The visuals I have seen from 'The Flood' appear to be of poor quality and lack any coherence. The sound effects are off and one shot is used twice. I would prefer to watch a low-budget film with minimal effects rather than an AI-generated production that detracts from the storytelling you are trying to tell and disrespects the efforts of those who have worked hard to create something worth watching.
I have no objections to the ideals of the film, and I understand that AI can be utilized effectively. However, this is not the appropriate way to incorporate it.
All in all, no, I do not believe God would approve of AI use in this way because of the widespread harm it has and continues to cause.”
All in all, I’m very happy with what I said.
While I doubt this movie will ever become some huge ‘thing,’ I want to point out that the creators are releasing this work in 3,000 theaters nationwide in October 2026. They have hopes that it will hit big at the box office due to it having the well-known film star, Kevin Sorbo and director Tim Chey. So, if anyone mentions the idea of seeing this, I suggest letting them know that AI was used in the making.
I don’t want people to think I’m hating this movie and not watching it for its religious takes, I’m saying, do not watch it because of its use of AI.
There are far better faith based films that don’t use it. I guarantee you, VeggieTales have better graphics than this ever will.
Shame on the producer and director for not making something truly genuine.
(Side note, in the trailer, two actors are seen on horses, but it's obvious they were standing behind a greenscreen-)
