Over 30 years ago, an animated film called Transformers the Movie debuted. It was a milestone in my childhood because it was the moment I realized that I had to grow up and except change.

The film was based on the cartoon series (1984-1987) of the same name that focused on a war between Autobots and Decepticons. From a chronological standpoint, the movie was about the future. The themes were confrontation, death, reclamation, and passing the torch.

The movie was different from the TV show because of its bleak, darker tones. Many of the characters were killed on screen. Imagine Elmer Fudd actually killing Bugs Bunny with his rifle. Imagine Bluto beating Popeye to death. What if The Simpsons killed off Homer leaving Bart, Lisa, and Maggie without a father? What if Scooby-Doo had to be euthanized?

That’s how it was for an 80’s kid when Optimus Prime died. Many children lost a beloved friend and father figure when that red semi-truck ceased to function. As a child, I was initially numb because I had a death in my family as well. But, the realization of loss caught up to me and I was crushed, so depressed that I didn’t see a reason why I should fight for anything.

By the end of the film, I realized that the new character Hot Rod was taking on the mantle of leadership because he had to take accountability for his actions. Hot Rod took on the persona of “Prime”. It was about passing the torch (the Matrix of Leadership) to the next generation. Good took on a new form (Rodimus Prime) and evil took on a new form (Galvatron).

This taught me that nothing in life is ever what it seems and that we should never take things at face value (hence, the slogan “More Than Meets The Eye”). From this film I learned that those you love live on inside you; they are never really gone as long as you remember them.

So, today I will relive my childhood when Transformers the Movie returns to theaters for one time only.

Finished 3rd in the World, for the weekend event, 'Clash for the Crown', in the Transformers game, 'TACTICAL ARENA'.......... Get on board peeps, great game! And def one of the best Transformers games on Android!! ⚡🚨⚡🚨⚡🚨⚡🚨 🚛 ⚡🚒⚡🚚⚡💯💥💥💥💥💥💥
