Le tilak est une marque portée sur le front par la plupart des hindous. Le tilak symbolise le troisième œil de Shiva. Il se positionne sur le front, à l'emplacement du sixième chakra dans lequel résident les facultés psychiques. Il souligne la dimension spirituelle de celui qui le porte. Le tilak indique l'appartenance à un groupe religieux pour un homme ou la situation maritale pour une femme. Ce point est parfois tout simplement une marque censée porter bonheur, apposée au cours d'une cérémonie religieuse ou en guise de bienvenue. Sa version esthétique et détachée de toute considération religieuse est appelé bindi. Ici il faut faire preuve d'une grande force spirituelle pour ne pas regarder ce beau bindi bleu !
********************************** Tilaka is a mark on the front of most Hindus. The tilak symbolizes the third eye of Shiva. It is positioned on the forehead, at the site of the sixth chakra in which the psychic faculties reside. It emphasizes the spiritual dimension of the wearer. Tilaka indicates membership of a religious group for a man or marital status for a woman. This point is sometimes simply a mark supposed to bring happiness, affixed during a religious ceremony or as a welcome. Its aesthetic version detached from all religious considerations is called bindi. Here one must show a great spiritual strength not to look at this beautiful blue Bindi!
Ти́лака или ти́лак (санскр. तिलक, IAST: tilaka) — священный знак, который последователи индуизма наносят глиной, пеплом, сандаловой пастой или другим веществом на лоб и другие части тела. Виды тилаки отличаются у последователей разных направлений индуизма и, среди прочего, служат опознавательным знаком, говоря о принадлежности к той или иной религиозной традиции. Тилака может наноситься ежедневно или только в особых случаях.
