My character Tikna Duerwhuk, a gunslinger dwarf.
Daughter of the best jewelers in the vicinity, she grew up learning and practicing the trade, until she became the best jeweler in her stronghold, Arrienat. She worked as a jeweler until his 30 (human age) and then became interested in the experiments of a group of Rock Gnomes that lived in the city. These experiments included some metalworking, tinkering and a very strange material: some black powder that in contact with fire exploded; the gnomes explained her that they were developing this new kind of weapon that was gonna revolution the world, and Tikna decided to join them in their quest.Â
She worked all day as a jeweler at her store, and at night visited the gnomes and learned of their new discoveries. She learned to use tinkering tools and didn’t take long to become an important member of the team.Â
A few years later they finally could develop a weapon that was stable enough to fight with, and called it a blunderbuss. To the group of these weapons that used the strange powder they called firearms or guns, calling the powder, well, gunpowder. Tikna kept the blunderbuss as hers and practiced with it, learning the extent of its possibilities and making it her most valuable possession. She still was a jeweler, so she embedded several of her best gems in the blunderbuss, making it more hers.
Years passed and the gnomes with Tikna developed more guns, even though people were still very skeptical of these weapons that caused so much noise and were, still, a little dangerous to use, since there was a chance that they could be jammed when trying to fire and then could actually explode. mStill the group believed in them, Tikna most of all, and decided they needed to spread the word of these new weapons to the world. Tikna volunteered, of course, and so became an adventurer with the only goal to make firearms renamed and famous, and as important in the fate of the world as she thought they should be.Â
Personality-wise she is very stubborn and strong-willed, like most dwarves. she believes everything worth doing has to be done right, and usually doing it right means doing it her way. She is well advanced in age, so she quickly disregards young people’s opinions as being to green, and strongly believes all young people should respect their elders first and foremost. She always dresses as well as she can, since she is representing her stronghold in the world, and she has a high appreciation for money, she always wants more, and doesn’t let go of it easily.
