Construction site, bricks, concrete, spring sun beating down like crazy. Boss took off to another site, crew scattered for smoke breaks, I'm just standing here thinking.
Thinking about happiness. Everyone's looking for it like it's hidden under the bricks somewhere. Reading books, watching seminars, meditating. And I'm looking at this stray cat chilling on the cement bags. He doesn't need a gym membership, a new car, or an iPhone. Sun's out? Check. Somewhere to sleep? Check. Someone's gonna feed him? Check. That cat's happy.
Or take a tiger. A tiger doesn't sit there thinking "oh man, am I tiger enough? Are my stripes okay? Am I making enough money on antelope?" Tiger just wakes up and lives. Hunts when hungry. Sleeps when tired. Roars when needed.
Anyway, fellas, here's the deal. You wanna be happy like a tiger? Just be. Work when there's work. Rest when there's rest. Sun's shining - smile. Cold beer - drink it. Head doesn't hurt - that's already a win.
All that "find yourself", "get into your resource" stuff - that's for office people going crazy from boredom. We're simple folks. We're already happy. Just 'cause we're alive, healthy, standing on a construction site, seeing the sun.
Life's good. Let's get back to work.
