Tide-pools Location: La Jolla, CA Settings: F8, ISO 100, 196 second exposure The texture at this spot in La Jolla, just south of the cove a few miles and popular tide-pools, reminds me of something you'd be looking at under a microscope rather than the life-size it is here. It's interesting to see relations between the infinitely large and infinitely small, maybe we can learn something. Another feature to this place is the abundance of tiny sea-snails, you can barely see them as small black specks surrounding the small pools. They were sharp enough to cut the bottom of my feet as I traversed the slick rock!
Home (Hawaii) away from Home (Bali)
I could call Hawaii my home away from home. I am an 'island hopper' by upbringing and it felt wonderful to be in the hot, humid and sunny air once again after surviving a tough winter (tough being relative as a tough winter to a tropical girl is different to a tough winter for my friend from Minnesota) in Franklin TN. Island people are happy people! As I was visiting one of my best friends from Bali I literally had a piece of home there with me on hikes, tide pool explorations and tanning sessions on the warm beaches.
The first thing we did was go on the KoKo-Head Hike that yielded a stunning panoramic view of the shoreline and ocean.
Of course there were some 'selfie' themed fun shots:
I had just sold my horse at this point and bought myself a 14-24mm lens so I was helplessly addicted to photographing the wide views and ever changing clouds.
I also found a couple of portraits on the way as well. :)
