It was just a game of Hide and Seek! A childrenâs game. Leviathan used to play it all the time with his brothers while they lived in the Celestial Realm. Not to mention all of the stealth games he was addicted to. He was an expert. This should have been a piece of cake for Leviathan!
Then, why was he so terrified????
âOh, Leviathan! Where are you?â He heard you call out from somewhere in the House of Lamentation. He couldnât see you from where he was hiding (under your bed), but you sounded terribly close. âCome out, silly! I just want to talk to you.â
Leviathan was smart enough to know that you very much did not âjust want to talkâ to him. You wanted vengeance! Blood! You wanted to get him forâŚforâŚuhâŚ?Â
He actually had no idea why you were mad at him. The moment he stepped into the kitchen, he saw you with that tell-tale look in your eyes, and he knew he had to get out of there. As for why he decided to hide in your room of all places, he didnât know! Leviathanâs weak otaku legs wouldnât have been able to run all the way up the stairs to his bedroom fast enough. Your room was the closest soâŚ!
Leviathan stifled a gasp when your doorknob jiggled. The door slowly creaked open. âLevi? Are you in here?â He was facing the wall, so he couldnât see your feet tentatively step inside your room. There was some more shuffling, and your voice, as clear as day, echoed right behind him. âI see you.â
He knew enough from the video games he had played that one mustnât ever give up! Even if everything seemed lost. So, with nothing left to lose, Leviathan kept silent. He trembled, hoping that maybe you might mistake him for a dust bunny.
You chuckled. It would have sent his heart beating if it wasnât already pounding from pure fear. âI can see your feet, Levi. Come out.â After a brief pause, you continued. âI like your socks. Ruri-chan themed. Very cute.â
Something brushed against Leviathanâs right foot, and he jumped, almost hitting his head against the bottom of your bed. No, no, noâŚyou werenâtâŚyou couldnâtâŚ! Your index finger wiggled and twitched against his foot. Leviathan clasped his hand over his mouth. His cheeks burned. He tried to move his foot out of the way, but he was stuck. Leviathan couldnât move his leg all too much. Damn your bed for being too low to the ground. This was why he slept in a bathtub.
Leviathan squeaked when your other index finger joined, tickling his left foot. He writhed in place as the sensations shot sparks of electricity up his entire body. This was so humiliating. A large part of Leviathan wanted to die. He bit down on his fist to try to distract himself from the tickling, but it was no use.Â
You ran your fingers down the arches of Leviathanâs feet, and he was done for.Â
âEeeeeh!â Leviathan choked out. âEek! Donât do thahahat!â He despised the giggles that tumbled out of him. His laugh was so bad. He hated the way it soundedâlike an awkward snorting hyena. Gah, why did you have to be so, soâ
Leviathan wasnât able to finish his train of thought before he felt you grab him by the ankles and give a mighty tug. In one swift motion, you pulled him out from under your bed. You sat back with a self-satisfied grin on your face. Leviathan laid there stunned for a moment before regaining his senses and covering his face. His cheeks were probably a bright red, and he didnât want you to see how flustered you got him.Â
âLeviââ
âIâm sorry!â Leviathan spat out.
You paused. âFor what?â
âForâŚI donât know!â Leviathan finally got the courage to look at you. You were sitting on your knees with a confused expression on your face. âWhen I saw you in the kitchen earlier, you seemed pretty mad at me.â
You cocked your head to the side. âIâm not mad at you. I just wanted to ask where you got the bunny ears from.â You pointed to Leviathanâs head, and on instinct, he touched a floppy purple ear that he had forgotten about. âTheyâre cute,â you said.
âThey were giving these out at the nearest pop-up cafeâŚâ
âReally?â you asked, flicking one of the ears. âThatâs pretty good. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that you looked cute.â You pressed your thumb against the base of the headband. âYou ran away before I could, though.â
âSorry, sorry, but I actually thought you were mad. Your expression wasâŚâ
You hummed in thought. âMaybe it was cuteness aggression?â
Cuteness aggression? Obviously, Leviathan had heard of the phenomenon. That happened to him any time he laid eyes on one of his anime faves, but the fact that you thought he was cute?? That was crazy! You were crazy. Who would ever think that he was cute? Leviathan was just a gross otaku.
You laughed softly. âYouâre so red,â you said, poking his cheek.
Leviathan squeaked and hid his face behind his hands, again.
