Zine Plan
Zine Plan
I plan to create a minimalist zine displays then and now images of Glasgow and surrounding districts. The images of now taken by me and the images of then taken by a late family member who took many photos between the late 50s and 70s. Using digital copies of these old film slides of Glasgow I shall scout out and match the locations I find interesting or have some kind of attachment too which has seen a good deal of change since the original slide image was taken.
I want it to be displayed in the style of a paper movie, much like The Americas by Robert Frank. One image per spread and little captions.
My images will be presented with a wide angle shot and the older slide layered on top, as shown below in an early test example.

Thursday class - fashion
Our task was to photograph our classmates for the fashion shoot. At first we got to do it the way we wanted, then on afternoon we had some key words we had to apply. In my group (Myself, Simon and Thomas) we got 3 words but decided to do “DYSTOPIAN”. Below my contact sheet
Nike Just Do It Ad Task
Speedlight task
On this Thursday classes we got a task to photograph with speedlight. Each team had few hours to wonder around college/ city center and take some creative shoots. In my team there was Mark and Simon. We were shooting in 3 locations. First one was by the Clyde river, second in one of the dead-end-lane, and last location was in the car park near college/university. Using speedlight wasn’t very problematic although it requires few attempts to get the right lighting. We also used a white umbrella to soften the light from speedlight. The set of speedlight includes two identical pieces, one is a ‘master’ - and is attached to camera, and the second one is called ‘slave’ - quite strange name, especially nowadays to use. The ‘slave’ can be attached to tripod or handhold. There were 3 of us, so one was a model, one a photographer and one was an assistant who held the ‘slave’ and pointed it the way photographer ordered. We could use only ‘slave’ or both of the speedlights. Most of the time we would use only ‘slave’. We also never used the tripod as it was easier to have someone holding it. To get the nice darker background we underexposed picture and then added the speedlight.
