Thundurus-Therian (OU)
Thundurus-Therian @ Leftovers - Thunderbolt - Hidden Power Ice - Nasty Plot - Agility Ability: Volt Absorb Nature: Modest (+spatk, -atk) EVs: 208 HP / 124 Def / 24 SpA / 152 Spe
Moves: The first move on this set is Thunderbolt, which is Thundurus-Therian main electric stab move. The second move on this set is Hidden Power Ice which hits the ground types such as Hippowdown and Landorus-Therian that are immune to Thunderbolt while also hitting dragons such as Latios and Dragonite. The third move on this set Nasty Plot which will double Thundurus-Therian’s special attack. The fourth move on this set, Agility, does the same thing as Nasty Plot except for the speed stat.
Spread: Before I go into depth on this spread I should say that I did not make it but rather it was made by a team builder that goes by CTC. That being said I do not know exactly what the spread is made to do but I do know that it is highly effective. Essentially the HP evs and the defense evs are there so that you can check flying type pokemon like Talonflame and Mega Pinsir and set up on them as Mega Pinsir can’t even two hit ko this bulky of a spread. The 152 speed EVs is used so that you can hit 276 speed and outspeed Adamant Excadrill as it is commonly used as a bench mark speed. The Modest nature is used to increase your hitting power as thanks to agility it isn’t necessary to run Timid. The chosen item is Leftovers so that you will be able to regain some of the health you will most likely loose setting up. It is also nice in helping Thundurus-Therian check Talonflame. Volt Absorb is the only ability that Thundurus-Therian gets so that’s what we’ll go with.
Team Support/Usage: This pokemon is best used on offense teams as a late game win condition while also being used an answer to flying types like Mega Pinsir and Talonflame. This makes it very good partners for pokemon like Mega Pinsir as Mega Pinsir hates other flying types, especially Talonflame, so it apreciates the removal of those pokemon, while also breaking the special walls like Heatran that this Thundurues-Therian set hates. Stealth Rocks get very annoying for this pokemon as it makes it difficult to set up and limits its switch ins so having a hazard removal such as Starmie is vital. Lastly hazard support from Pokemon like Garchomp and Klefki is also vital in getting certain kos.
Thanks everyone for reading! If anyone has any questions, comments, concerns, or requests then don’t hesitate to leave me an ask and I’ll try to get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks!
