A tremble ran through him as Thor pulled him into a hug, the remnants of the nightmare still fresh in his mind. Loki wished he could melt into Thor’s embrace like he wanted to, to let himself feel safe in his brother’s arms that held him so tightly. A small part of him hated himself for even seeking Thor out, for wanting to be held like he had as a child, it made him feel weak; like he could shatter into a thousand pieces if Thor held onto him any tighter,
Loki had gotten used to a lack of affection over recent years, and his barely contained sobs were a clear sign of that. He honestly believed if Thor wasn’t holding onto him; he would have ended up on the floor.
❝ I just....I- ❞ Loki didn’t know what to say. He and Thor had only just gotten back to a good place, and although they’d been close in their youth, that bond had become fractured over recent years. Sure; Ragnarok had brought them closer, but it didn’t heal the hurt, and it was hard to trust Thor again and to let himself be vulnerable around other people; especially his brother. ❝ I couldn’t sleep, and I needed....I needed to feel safe. ❞
