What can I do about not being able to figure out a way to end my stories? Because I can always write the characters, and the conflicts, and create a world, but I never know how to resolve anything. Any ideas?
Resolution doesnât mean everything has to be tied up neatly with a bow when youâve run out of words. Sometimes, weâre left with messes and more questions are raised than answered.
My best advice to you is to look at the conflicts in your stories and your charactersâ actions. From there, think of the consequences. These can be positive and negative, expected and unintended results of their choices. Write those down. How do they fit into your story arch? Do they make sense? Who do they impact? From there. Are there any secondary effects? Who do they impact? Think of it like a bomb blast where thereâs an impact (primary) and a shockwave (secondary) felt moments after. Characters may not be directly involved, but may have to live with the consequences of other characterâs (in)actions.
