As an young videographer, I am learning that I NEED to start paying more time and attention to the lighting of my videos.Â
Here is a nice little video by Andyax that demonstrates how to create three-point lighting... on a budget!Â
Check it out!Â
One moment please Photography @dajovoo Model Joe Bunting #composit #eneryballs #photoshop #lightroom #3pointlighting #magic #photomanipulation #longhair #somethingdifferent #threepointlighting #dajovoo #canon500d
Shot with Canon EOS 70D, Focal length 42; f stop 4.5; exposure time 1/800
I purposely shot this image extreme close up using the natural lighting to spark up the models eyes. My father is a photographer and taught me that when shooting a portrait always have a light lit on the models eyes to make them alive and intriguing. I did not use photoshop this is an original picture.

For this portrait I wanted a more natural setting. The lights in the room, including the ceiling lights, the monitor in front of her, and the overhead screen to Callie's right contributed to a natural three point lighting system. It evened out the shadows while keeping enough to allow for depth. I changed the color of her hoodie slightly to allow her to draw attention more. The screen to the right may attract too much attention, but it also may contribute to the 'natural student environment' idea. I wanted a more dynamic portrait than just the regular head and shoulders, so her pose, and the framing of monitors in front of her, add to the effect. Thanks Callie for posing for me! :D

I may have taken the 'show that you improved the image in post production' quite liberally. Everything (with the exception of my hair) was improved by tweaking levels and using basic touch up tools, but the hair I did with the sole purpose of creating a complementary duo with the green flecks in my eyes. This I think makes the images more striking. If this is a lot more than you were asking, just let me know :)
In regards to the pose, the mood that seems to be conveyed here is a deliberate sense of posing, as if I am trying to pose in the specific way that someone is supposed to in a portrait shot such as this. The exaggerated shoulder portrays this quite well. However, the heavyset eyes and shape of the mouth also gives a sense of underlying sarcasm or contempt, hinting that I am merely toying with the idea of austerity.
That's what I see, anyways :PÂ
