Week 1 Assignment
Three fonts that I like:
Number 1: ZCOOL_Xiaewe font
=> This font is my first pick of the three because the fonts was simple and elegant design. The type of this font based on is the Sans serif. The bar and ascender is at the same height. Every character was in place within the X-height. The font is bold but with soft curve on edge that make it more reviewable to the reader. This font can be be in print paper as magazine or newspaper.
Number 2: Pacifico
=> This font has a quirky design that remind reader of cartoon animation. It is a good font for me because the proportion of the font is within the X-height. The special character that make the font look visible is the ligature that was plan to have in it. The font also have a more curvy loop for the “y” and “p” compare to ZCOOL_Xiaewe. This font would be good to use for Television purpose.
Number 3: Caveat
=> Although this font have a bot twist for its X-height, what I really like about it is even doing so the font still keep the character in the right X-height that allow. And the chose to make the font Italic also added to the affect feeling of the font. The font to be can be used as a font for a film or series poster.
Three fonts that I don’t like:
Number 1: Poppins
=> The font look bad to e because even though it was being design as a bold text, the character that have descender line how even did not at the same height with each other. The second thing that make this font a down vote is the curve got small on one size with close counter. Get me the feeling on an uneasy setting of font.
Number 2: Indie Flower
=> This font is one of the quirky font that not really appealing to reader. The in even thick and thin for each character is very distraction for the font. the font look very crooked also because the inconsist of X-height. Moreover, the aperture of open counter words like “y”. and “h” is not the same make the font look weird.
Number 3: Mrs Sheppards
=> This last font is like the combine of both the fonts that I do not like above. It’s a bold text with quirky deign that not applicable to anything. Also the narrow space between word make it feel very tight and not appealing to readers. The only thing that make this font better than the first two is its letter have a good x-height for it. But I’m not going to vote for this fonts for anything.
