March nineteenth, the day I was waiting in class for the clock to strike one. Three months into 2014 and I was ready to leave early and get on the road. I was eager to play hockey with some of my best friends for a time we would never forget. I sat on the team bus for nearly two hours thinking of each possibility of how this night might turn out. We could become the Junior State Champs, or we can go home thinking of each and every little thing we could have done better. We would have to beat the Plainfield hockey team to earn that title we so desperately wanted to continue the two year streak of the JV Icemen alumni before us. Before I know it, first period is over and we are trailing by one with no goals from our team. The second starts and Plainfield quickly shoots another one in, leaving us ready to fight and to go home with a win. Within about twenty-five seconds, we got a quick three goals in, giving us the lead. By the time the third came around, the score was four to two. We had the lead and we were determined to keep it. So determined, that we ended up shooting in another three goals. The final score of the State Championship game was seven to three. The celebration was on and we were on a high the rest of the night, maybe even the week. Going to bed was the hard part, adrenaline was pumping, I could not stop smiling, and I just kept thinking about the final sound of the buzzer. The sound of everyone screaming with joy etched itself into my brain and would not let me forget it; nor did I want to. That day was one of the best I ever had and always will be. I will always remember being the last JV Rockford Icemen team to take home the win in a three peat.
