I'm sorry but this is the funniest thing.
I was reminded of a book shop that opened in my town years ago. Got chatty with the owner and she mentioned that ppl in my town had the habit of taking books to the counter and then changing their minds abt buying them. She was stumped by this weird behaviour. I said ‘that is weird’ and then watched a guy bring a thriller up to the till, she picked it up and said ‘oh this is great, I never would have guessed it was his wife. I didn’t see that coming at all’ He picks up the book, returns it to the shelf and leaves. ‘Another one’ she was perplexed I asked if he she realised she just ruined the plot for that guy. I told her she’d ruined the ending for him. She shrugged and either couldn’t or refused to see the issue. Those ppl were never coming back to her shop. It shut down like 6 mths later. She blamed kindles for it.
