The Best Policy: Bryce & Alex
Not a clue. He hadn't had a single idea what to say in response to.. to so much sudden, visceral honesty. So the young heir just sniffed once and willed his tears to stop, too spent from a too long day to think through those words and come up with a good reply, let alone an honest one. He'd settled instead on shaking his head, and a weak, muttered 'I'd like.. to go home now, please' when all other words failed him. It would be a long ride home, and his long day would turn into an even longer night if they didn't return soon. His head was foggy from tears he was so under to holding back; foggy enough that the heir found himself sitting in the front seat, not liking how.. alone.. sitting in the back felt. He remained silent, tired eyes watching the world pass as the car slowly began rocking him to sleep.
"W...wake me up.. before we arrive? I'll need t... to fix my makeup before entering.." It was the last coherent, worried thought he voiced before fully nodding off, entirely unaware as his head lolled to the side, and eventually came to rest in Alex's lap. He slept.. soundly.. Maybe for the first time in years. And a small, thoughtless mutter left him.
"W..... I want to... to trust you..so badly.. I just.. don't want to see you die.. Don't want to see anybody die...Not again" The words were punctuated with a small whimper, before the heir slipped back into sleep for the rest of the ride, a single line of tears trailing down the bridge of his nose.
