After goodbye || Everthorne

It had always been hard for Katniss to share what she was feeling. And although she was no longer too busy SURVIVING, it still hadn’t gotten any easier. The constant darkness and depression ever since her little duck died seemed to swallow her every word most days. If it wasn’t for Sue, she would have withered away by now.
Faced with Gale though, something had gone through her. It was like a sort of electricity shocking her entire being into being AWAKE. Even if she would slip back into that perpetual darkness after, it couldn’t hurt to try. Even if she wasn’t entirely sure WHAT she should be trying, Katniss did know she had to do something --anything if she wanted to feel another spark.
“I don’t know, Gale. I just-- I miss hunting, out in the woods, passed the old fences...”
If she was going to suffer anyway, she might as well do it with him by her side. The brunette hadn’t exactly forgiven him, nor was she sure if she ever could, but she did miss him. THEM. The Katniss she’d been years ago when it was just the two of them, hunting and feeling more free than they ever would outside of those stolen moments.
“Nevermind. Where are you staying?”
