it was no surprise that a couple of drinks had managed to loosen the man up and so, with a wide smile on his face, he stood up from the table and held his hand out for her. this was unlike him and maybe that was the point. he didn’t want her to find him boring. he wanted her to enjoy their first valentine’s day together, “come on,” he started, his eyes meeting hers. “don’t make me beg. dance with me, beautiful.”

gavin and sutton had been seeing each other for a while, and there had been something on gavin’s mind. the two of them were watching a movie, his arm around the other man’s shoulders and a small smile resting on his face. “sutton, baby,” he started, looking down at him to make sure that he had his full attention. “i wanna talk to you about something.” he added, his hand coming up to play with his hair. “what do you think about...maybe, moving in with me?”

in all honesty, gavin had no idea how sutton was going to react but before he could stop anyone from calling him, sutton had been contacted and informed of his accident. it’s not like he would’ve kept him in the dark but it was just that he didn’t want his boyfriend to worry. if anything, he was just sore. he sat in the hospital bed, with his head bandaged up and his shoulder was too. he knew going back into the burning building was a dumb idea but he couldn’t leave a kid behind. as sutton rushed in, he gave him a small smile. “i’m okay.” he reassured before he said anything. “you didn’t have to rush down here and check on me.” but he had to admit, having him here almost made him feel better.

panic. that was the feeling that took over gavin’s body. his shar pei, piglet, had came back with a huge gash against the top of her head and he didn’t know what she’d gotten into or if she’d ever be okay. all he knew what that he had to do something and that’s why he called his vet at nearly midnight. surely, sutton would understand, right? and he did. a small sigh of relief took over his body as the man pulled up at his office. he got out of his car, carrying the pup in his arms in a blanket and meeting him over by the door. “i mean, i really don’t know what happen,” he started, furrowing his eyebrows. “i let her out to go to the bathroom before we headed off to bed and before i knew it, i was hearing her cries and she ran back like this. tell me she’s going to me okay. please, tell me you can help her.” he rambled on. he was definitely worried and that was for sure but he was also sure that the man understood.
