she took advantage of her good days. this, just happened to be one. arielle didn't need her cane. she didn't feel as exhausted as she normally was and so, she decided that she would surprise alaric at work for lunch. everything was placed perfectly inside the lunch box, made fresh by her before she'd left the house. arielle walked into the hospital and managed to make her way into his office, a smile appearing on her lips the moment she laid her eyes on him. "is now a good time?" she asked softly, holding up the lunch bag she prepared for him. "i made you lunch." she added and shifted further inside, making her way around his desk and to him. "i can just drop things off if you're busy…but i was hoping to see you for a few moments."

arielle leaned in, hands surrounding her face as she leaned against them. "is this better?" she asked her fake date, eyes glued to theirs. she agreed to all of this because, well, she hated their ex and she was all for making them jealous. "and before you ask, they're definitely looking. i think the only thing that could upset them more than they are right now if you kiss me."

arielle didn't like to come off as weak, despite everything that she was going through. today wasn't what she would categorize as a good day when it came to autoimmune disease but she was doing what she could to fight against the tremors that took over her hands, especially while alaric was at work. she didn't want him to think that he had to give up his job because she was struggling with her own health. she always put him first. she had just managed to make herself a glass of tea, slow and steady. now, she had to carry it into the living room. that was the hardest part. pretty much as soon as she'd managed to pick it up, she spilled it on their tile floor and the biggest look of disappointment coated her features. she hated days like this. turning to go get the mop, she ran right into her husband's chest. "jesus, alaric," she breathed out, i didn't know you made it home." but she was glad he was here and the relief of having him here was evident on her face.

on top of having an off day, she had a long day at work. arielle basically had to beg her boss to let her move to commitments and it wasn't easy, but she knew that it was the best thing for her and her husband. sighing as she walked in, she immediately make her way toward the couch, toward her husband. "hey," she breathed out and pecked his lips, "why the long face? did you have a long day too?" she asked, her head immediately finding his shoulder as she cuddled against him in attempt to relax. "tell me about it. what happened?" she asked, hand rubbing over his arm as she tried to help him relax from whatever what bothering him.

if there was one thing that Arielle didn’t like, it was feeling different from anyone else. She wanted to be involved in the city’s events and she wanted to go out. She didn’t want to feel as though she had to stay home and she didn’t want Alaric to feel trapped at home either. Looking over at Alaric as he parked the car, she took in a deep breath. “I brought my cane. You really don’t have to haul the wheelchair around.” Arielle liked to think that she was stronger than she was. The thing about that was, Alaric knew how much she could handle. “Plus, i don’t want you to feel like you have to maneuver me through the crowd. I can handle it.” But she really wasn’t sure how true that was.

she didn't like to admit that she had a hard time moving around despite it being obvious and duke was her intel whenever she was unable to gather the news of a story on her own. how she managed to develop this relationship with this man, she was unsure, but regardless she was thankful for the fact that she could lean on him. she hopped onto the bar stool, despite not drinking anymore, and glanced over at him. "thank you for meeting me." she breathed out. "this...just wasn't a good week." she added, resting the cane that assisted her with walking underneath the bar as if not to lose it or draw any attention to herself.

quitting her job to focus on her own novel had proven to be the best decision she'd ever made, especially since she worked on her own terms without stressing about deadlines and when he hands were going to cooperate with her. today, thankfully, had been a good day and she was sitting at her make shift work area in her bedroom. she was so engrossed in the work in front of her that she didn't even hear her husband come in. gasping as he make his presence known, she clutched her chest and swatted at the man in front of her. "jesus christ, you scared me! what are you trying to do? give your poor wife a heart attack?" she asked, her body fully turning toward him in her chair as she shook her head.
