Joanna honestly felt that she had cried herself out already, sitting hidden away in one of the hospital waiting rooms she felt drained and numb. She wanted desperately to sleep but her mind kept running over everything, mostly focused on anything Farren from the first time they brought her home to the last time they’d spoken. That awful last meeting that made her eyes fill with tears all over again. If, no, she mentally shook herself out of that thinking, when Farren woke up Joanna swore she’d make it up to her daughter. Joanna quickly brushed any tears away when she heard the door open, stiffening when she saw Thomas at the door.

If anyone had told Joanna even a week ago that she would have understood Thomas not coming to her own scan she would have just scoffed. But situations changed and she really didn’t see how she could be angry at him for needing to be with California at that moment. Still she was somewhat surprised to see that he’d come back to their home, any irritation that had been felt melted away almost instantly as she took in the look on his face.

Without thinking she stepped forward, wrapping her arms tight around his waist. It wasn’t lost on her that this was probably the first time she’d initiated any contact in weeks but her heart ached too much for him to let logic in.

Even before all of this social media had never really been Joanna’s scene, she’d post from time to time or try to engage with the bar’s pages but she didn’t really understand a lot of it. Now with the storm appearing on twitter she spent a lot of time trying to keep away from it, so she thought nothing of the whispers or glances she was getting at work. Something must have happened though, she quickly realised that as soon as she saw Thomas walk in to the bar. He knew she was working and at the moment they’d just been avoiding each other, or at least she’d been avoiding him. She couldn’t really help but frown at the look on his face and she quickly moved away from the public bar and into the back room.

“What’s wrong? Is Farren okay?”
