“Wrong?” Bernadetta squeaked. “N-nothing’s wrong! What could possibly be wrong? Why would you think something was wrong? Oh, good job, Bernie, you absolute idiot, you’ve been here two seconds and now everything is wrong!”
While the trembling didn’t stop, the security of a closed room did help her shoulders lower and her heart sink a little lower in her throat. Even if there was still someone else here with her, who she still wasn’t 100% sure wasn’t a spy for her father, she at least didn’t have to deal with everyone staring at her if she ran screaming again. Or if she fainted. By the Goddess, she really hoped she didn’t faint in his office.
Slowly, she tip toed her way into the office, edging towards...something? Her eyes darted around as she tried to find somewhere safe to huddle and hide (and not linger on the bookshelves because wow those were a lot of books, she wondered if he had any fiction there, probably not, huh...) until she could walk back to her room without shaking.
“I just...got a letter from home is all. N-nothing unusual or wrong about that, haha! Everything is perfectly fine, yes! Haha...”
