She hadn't wanted to go to the festival really but with her sister's tough love on the phone, she hadn't felt like she had much of a choice. It had been a good day, she'd seen more of the town than she realised she could and she felt the sense of community. But even with all of the good on display that day, she still felt incredibly overwhelmed. It wasn't home and currently, the town held too much of her heartbreak and the negativity in her life.
The festival had spilled out onto the beach by the boardwalk but it was only a couple of minutes walk down the sand to find a spot that was quieter than the rest of town. She could smile and pretend again, but she just needed a few minutes where she could just look at the sea and relax her mind.
She almost jumped as she spotted someone else in the spot she had been trying to find and she instantly pulled up to stop walking. "Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude, I was just looking for a quiet spot." As she looked at him, a little flash of recognition ran through her brain. "You work at the hotel, right? Sorry, am I on like a private space or something? Should I go back up the beach?"
