JD’s eyes skirted over his hair in one of the mirrors just outside Headmistress Coulter’s office, making sure it was presentable.
“Your collar,” Ferro chided him mentally from within her satchel. Right. He couldn’t have his collar popped in front of an adult, right? He’d get marked down as disobedient already. He didn’t care whether or not the adults liked him, but if his dad caught wind of him causing trouble, he’d just look for somewhere in the next town over to move to—again. JD grumbled softly, very quiet, and fixed it, before walking up to the Headmistress’ door and knocking.
Ferrvaine noted that the coast was clear before she crawled out from her satchel, up JD’s arm, and sat just behind his neck on his shoulder. So that JD could introduce her, of course. Tarantula daemons, even one so uncommon as Ferro’s cobalt self, made a lot of professors at his previous schools…nervous, visibly, but there wasn’t much they could do to help with that, aside from hiding her away.
She’d settled that way, recently, after all.
“You wanted to see me, ma’am?” he asked softly as he pushed open the heavy, dark wooden door when prompted.
