The pomgon has arrived!

As already stated, these little bird-like dragons are menaces to society. Stealing fruit from trees and gardens, harassing local birds, and dive bombing anyone who gets too close to their nests. But some consider them very cute and smart creatures.

About the size of a crow.

Males have a bright red chest.

They are magical, using transmutation magic to ripen fruit. (but due to their small size, they can only ripen a fruit very little and not very often.)

They like red fruit the best, especially strawberries.

I was asked to talk more about familiars. :3

Dad, Can We Get a Dog?

It's pretty common that young Elves summon their familiar around 13/14 years old. It's a choice though, they can choose not to if arcane arts don't interest them. Though as you can imagine an animal that can telepathically talk to you would be pretty cool to a kid.

The summoning itself is a circle drawn with chalk on the floor, a specific phrase in the Magic Language (name pending) is written around the inside of the circle. In front of the caster a piece of spirit quartz and an object important to the caster (an old toy, something they've made themselves) is placed within the circle.

They speak the verbal part of the spell and if they succeed-

Can it do any tricks?

Mage and familiar have a telepathic/emotional bond.

Familiar shares their magical power, making the mage more capable.

Familiars don't eat, or do most things regular animals do, being spirits.

Familiars do have what is referred to as a wearable form, transforming into a physical object their mage can wear.

Based on my map I think the Restless Sea would be the biggest region. Which being the central sea between the continents, all ships must cross it to get to other regions. That isn't really an issue along the coasts, but there's a reason it's called the Restless Sea.

Lilium University of Magic is one of the handful of further Arcane learning opportunities in Folimere, Sylmafrae. It is open to both Elves and Half-Elves, at least Half-Elves that can meet the requirements for admission.

The current known world of Thraeia. The grayed out land you see on this map has not been explored by Humans. All stories in Chronicles of Thraeia take place on this map. (Excluding 'Cramming for Magic Class'.)

Sirabriso

Sirabriso was named after David Siranoiam, a Sudorian historian. It is home to the youngest Human kingdom, Viridon. Birchgrove is the setting of the first book, 'Lady of Birchgrove'. 'Cramming for Magic Class' take place within the Elven Forest.

England and Scotland are the main scenery inspiration.

Amiadin

Amiadin is the birthplace of Humans, specifically the Hedontis River delta at the heart the Yfantis Kingdom, the oldest Human civilization. Sudoras and Coilland are their neighbors , all three live in relative peace currently. Amiadin is the setting for some later stories.

Yfantis Kingdom is inspired by Egypt. Sudoras inspired by Spain and Italy. Coilland is based on England and Norway.

Brariheba

Brariheba is the most unexplored continent... by Humans. It is home to the Feli, a cat-like species that roams most of the continent. Portsmouth and Edrinton are colonies of the Yfantis Kingdom and Coilland respectively. Humans and Feli clash heavily around the towns and Feli slavery is rampant. Portsmouth is the primary setting for 'Reclaim'.

Norway and Switzerland are the main scenery inspiration.

Elves

Everything you know about stereotypical Elves, throw it out of the window. Just keep the pointy ears.

Thraeian Elves have similar skin tones to Humans but their hair and eyes can be any color. Some can even have multiple colors!

Superstition says that the more colorful an Elf, the more powerful they are.

Elves can live to be 250 years old, adulthood being around 18.

They are one of the only two races on Thraeia that are born with the ability to use magic.

Through harnessing the ancient Magic Language and spell components they are able to cast spells. And through summoning a familiar they are able to extend their magic pool and cast more powerful spells.

Being the oldest civilization they are the most advanced, in the time period 'Cramming for Magic Class' takes place the use of electricity is starting to be utilized.

Feli

The Feli are cat people based on real world big cats.

Feli can be broken down into these types: Lao (Lion), Tigri (Tiger), Cita (Cheetah), Jagu (Jaguar), Frost Par (Snow Leopard), Par (Leopard), and Gar (Cougar).

Feli who have unusual coat colors, i.e. melanistic, albino, erythristic, are considered more attractive.

Feli can live up to 45 years, adulthood is around 8 years. (If you double a Feli's age, you get around what they are in Human years.)

Feli, being based on cats, can roar, purr, and growl.

They produce a thick coat during the cold Brarian winters.

They are a nomadic people that roam most of Southern Brariheba, living in khaelmas, a large cloth/animal hide tent.

Tribes can be made up of multiple types of Feli and their family groups.

Humans

Humans on Thraeia aren't very different from the real world.

They are a tenacious species and very adaptive.

They are unable to wield magic like Elves, but have developed several magical items to aid themselves.

Culture varies on region and kingdom.

Current relations with the other species is dire.

Kiyiater

Kiyiater are an eagle-like species residing in Amiadin's eastern jungles.

Hooked beaks, tiny wings, and taloned feet.

Their feathers range in colors of browns and tans and grays.

They can live up to 100 years, reaching maturity around 6 years old.

Their language, composed mostly of clicks and whistles, is nearly unpronounceable to other species. Luckily Kiyiater are extremely fast learners.

The wings on their backs are too small for flight, but can help in gliding short distances.

They do lay eggs, typically 1-3 at a time, that are dull greenish with brown spots in coloration and about the size of emu eggs.

Kiyiater are mostly arboreal, moving among the jungle trees like primates.

They build large nests that are lined with moss and leaves.

Groups are very fluid, with members leaving and joining constantly.
