Codecademy & things I now know that didn't know but don't know when I learned 'em
Quite a lot of ideas and changes and stuff have happened lately and I think now would be an appropriate time to sift through the muck in my brain. I wanna start blogging more at least as an outlet.
Blogging/Micro-Blogging
I've been using twitter a little more lately and I can kinda see what all the hype is about but I don't really understand its use for Mr. and Mrs. John Everyguy. Sure sometimes it's nice to dump out some thought you're having that you feel people should know but there's no one around. But really it seems much more valuable as a means to gathering info. I tend to follow tech companies and things that interest me, much more than I follow an individual.
I rarely use tumblr but i really should... I think if i document my thought processes more thoroughly while I'm working on some thing (code or what have you) i could much more easily retrace the route of an issue or at least remember y i ended up on the route i ended on. Or when i have some long drawn out idea that needs to get from out my head, i should use this service I'm already... using?

Codecademy:
I love this site! I love what they are about and the service they provide! I started with it several months ago as a means to learn javascript when I had 0 experience in it and it immediately gave me enough knowledge to fumble through some code at work. Now I have a decent leg to stand on with js and jQuery and I understand what I'm looking at. It's a great feeling. ANYONE & EVERYONE who has ever wanted to learn to code anything should at least look at it. I'll be going down the perl and python tracks in the next few weeks.
Mentoring
I have always wanted to impart my knowledge on others. Share in the wealth of knowing how things work. The problem is, every time I try to teach friends something they just don't seem to give a shit. If I were to say to most people I can teach you a trade that requires nothing more than access to a pc and your brain, and this trade could make you 6 figures a year they would graciously bequeath me with their left nut. So y no ambition to learn??? People are friggin lazy...
Personal Projects
My site is crap but its a sandbox... a place to tinker and test and not some public face, maybe it should be a public face and i could set up some other page or set of pages as a testing ground... hmmm that might happen.
Massive Hipster is slowly taking shape, Kenny and I are starting to put some solid plans together but I would really like to get some more people involved. None of my buddies that are code guru types really seems interested in projects i come up with, not sure if thats due to a lack of trust in my skill or they really are just as busy as they say. I guess i could always train some ppl but... this goes back to the mentoring thing... vicious cycle.
