and in that moment, i’m wrenched out of the dream. tossed into the harsh glare of reality, where everything soft turns sharp again.

Hypocrisy really drives me insane. The way that I feel is that if you do not feel comfortable with others doing it then lead by example. For me a life is meant to be shared. Everyone, even if they do not realize it is an influence on others. By 'sharing your life' I mean you are literally sharing your identity and actions with others. Each person should act as they wish others would act. Even someone who acts by their own standards of 'right' has absolutely no right to tell others how to act. If anyone wants someone to act in a certain way they a two-way conversation is needed to decide which way of acting is better, if an agreement on which way of living isn't reached then neither should change. It's really a simple concept which if everyone followed it would lead to an improvement. 

So now that marijuana has been legalized in some states I feel as though an opinion on my part should be shared. I think many potential readers know my opinion on alcohol within society and I do have a similar view on pot. I feel that marijuana (and alcohol when used as a drug) are immoral because they are derogatory to society. What I do feel is that if people are going to be pot users than the government may as well control it the best that they can. With this being said, tobacco regulation is on the rise and it would seem as though smoking and tobacco use will be either outlawed  or die out on it's own in the not-too distant future, for this reason legalization may have come at a bad time. 

I am a fairly conservative thinker but I am in favour of some necessary social reforms.   Nutrition facts should be mandatory on all alcoholic beverages. Currently legislation in Canada and the US exempts alcohol from needing nutrition information on it's packaging. This does not make sense, these beverages are made to be consumed so it does not make sense to withhold this information from a consumer. People currently are wilfully blind to how bad these drinks are for them and most will not go out of their way to look up nutrition information on their own. I feel that this is a reasonable first step towards alcohol reform and encouraging moderation mainly among the demographic of young women, who tend to drink higher calorie drinks with greater sugar. One Orange Bacardi Breezer for example has 385 calories in it and 56g of sugar. We cannot force people to practice temperance or abstain from drinking but I see no reason why people should not be better informed.
