That Sam Girl
'Donned in her old, tattered 5 Seconds Of Summer t-shirt; new star Sam took the stage on Friday for the first date of her headlining tour. It wasn't a surprise when she covered 5SOS' single 'She Looks So Perfect', doing a slower rendition with only her guitarist and her fans as back up. We personally thought she knocked it right out of the park!'Â
I scrolled down, skipping the rest of the article and tapping the video of Sam's cover.Â
I was just on twitter when I came across a boatload of tweets talking about her and I curiously googled what everyone was so excited about.Â
"She's gorgeous," Luke breathed, looking over my shoulder.Â
"She's a huge fan of ours, covered She Looks So Perfect last night," I said.Â
"What's her name?" He questioned.Â
"Uh, Sam. You gonna hit her up?" I chuckled.Â
"Duh," he mumbled, walking around and sitting across from me.Â
I continued my day normally, goofing off in band practice and banging it on the drums. I told Michael and Calum about the Sam girl while we were on our way to the venue. Michael thought it was pretty rad and followed her on Twitter, tweeting, 'who knew someone could sing our own single better than us? @sammmahhhhh ;)'Â

"Hey Ash, you know wear my black skinny jeans are?!" Luke asked me one night, flustered. I glanced up from my phone, shaking my head.Â
"Dude, you're wearing them." He sighed, mentally hitting himself about it and running around collecting his keys and phone.Â
"Should I be worried about where you're going?" I interrogated.Â
"No no, just nervous. I - I actually have a date," he smiled.Â
"What, that's great man! Is she a fan?"
"Yeah but uh..." Glancing at his watch he started for the door, "I'm gonna be late. See ya later!"Â
"Crazy kids," I joked, propping my feet up.

Michael, Cal, and I all stood outside the restaurant. Luke's recently caught a habit where's he's just about five minutes late to everything; not enough to make a difference but just enough to get on your nerves. I had a pretty good idea that he was always with a girl but never questioned him about it.Â
"Hey guys," he called, walking up behind us.Â
"Finally, I'm starving - who's this?" Calum shouted, then glancing at the blonde on his arm. They both blushed.
"Do you guys uh, remember that Sam girl who covered our song...?" Luke asked. I took a second look at the girl when it clicked.Â
"How could I forget. Hi, I'm Ashton," I shook her hand lightly and she blushed.Â
"I'm that Sam girl," She joked, nudging Luke's hip.Â
"And this is obviously Michael and Calum," Luke introduced.Â
"Always a pleasure to meet a fan," Michael shot her a wink and pushed the door opened to the restaurant. I heard them whisper a few words to each other and laugh quietly, like they were the only ones even there.Â
We took our seats at a table in the back corner; Sam and Luke on one side with me and Michael across from them and Calum at the head.Â
"So Sam, how long have you been in music?" I asked, sipping my drink.Â
"I got signed about a year and a half ago but I've always been working towards it. I was also shocked when my manager came to me with a headlining tour since I've basically just opened for various people." She explained.Â
"We should totally see if we could get you in the recording studio with us," Calum mentioned.Â
"Oh no, I'd just mess everything up," she shot down. "You should see me when I'm doing one of my own songs."Â
"I have and you're amazing," Luke told her, quietly so everyone wouldn't hear him but I caught his message. She glanced at him and he smiled warmly at her, pecking her cheek. Both of them were beaming the entire lunch, stealing from each other's plates and making a bit of a mess when a piece of food fell right in Sam's lap. She laughed while Luke scrambled around for napkins to clean it up.Â
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to!" He apologized. Sam shook her head.Â
"Babe, it's fine. These jeans are as old as I am, I'm just gonna go try and wash it off," she giggled, standing and walking back to the bathroom.Â
"I like her," Michael announced.Â
"I really like her," Calum added.Â
"Watch out Calum might steal her," I whisper shouted.Â
Luke laughed, "Just don't embarrass me in front of this one."Â
"Dude, you just dropped half of your lunch in her lap. You don't need our help," Michael joked.Â
"I know but I just don't wanna lose her," he expressed, barely audible.Â
"I think I got most of it out but - " Sam stated, walking up. "Sorry, am I interrupting something?" She asked hesitantly.Â
"No, no. We were just chatting," Luke assured, pulling her back into her chair.Â

"I'm gonna take Sammy back to her hotel, she's leaving in the morning - to go where?" Luke asked her.Â
"Toronto." She answered.Â
"It was great meeting you, Sam!" I exclaimed, giving her a quick hug. After the rest of the boys said goodbye, Luke walked her off, slinging his arm around her shoulder.Â
"Okay Calum, you owe me five bucks." Michael said once the couple was out of sight.Â
"What did you guys bet on?" I inquired.Â
"That he's been hiding a girlfriend from us," Michael replied.Â
"Ten bucks says he surprises her while she's on tour," Calum proposed, handing Mike a five.Â
"You're on," Michael smirked.Â

"You know, Sam's last concert is less than two hours away. You could totally make it to Sacramento if we leave right now," Calum reminded, taunting Luke with the idea once again. We had just settled into the tour bus, starting our American tour tomorrow. Sam's last show was in Sacramento; meaning if Calum couldn't get Luke there by the end of the night he'd be out another ten. Michael was too wrapped up in his video game to even notice Calum convincing Luke of the idea.Â
"She already told me not to come, says we should rest for tomorrow's show," Luke sighed.Â
"Then it'd be an even better surprise," Calum sang. Contemplating for a few seconds, Luke smiled and nodded. "Let's do it."Â

Michael annoyingly slipped Calum his ten once we were side stage. She was about two songs into her set when we arrived, absolutely no idea of our arrival. We started yelling her name to grab her attention from the crowd, Luke stood in the middle shaking his head.Â
She finally turned her head after finishing the song, her eyes widening. Shaking her head and laughing, she tried hiding her smile while explaining what was happening to the fans.Â
"I'm sure you guys are wondering what's going on now. But um, a little birdy decided to crash my concert tonight - " We finally shoved Luke out onto the stage and the crowd when insane. Sam just shook her head while Luke blushed intensely.Â
"This is Luke, everybody. But I think you all know that," she laughed. He quickly walked up to her and gave her a hug, pecking her cheek before she shooed him off stage.
"Let the record show I did not encourage this," she joked, starting her next song.Â
The concert went on and we played around backstage while listening to her go through her set. She finally finished, waving goodbye and running off stage.Â
"What are you hooligans doing here?" She shouted, jokingly.Â
"Calum said we should come surprise you," Luke blamed. He opened his arms up for a hug but she backed away.Â
"No way, I'm all sweaty!" She argued.Â
"Give me your affection, Samantha!" He yelled, chasing her around before she ran into her dressing room and slammed the door.Â
"Crazy kids," I joked.Â
