i will go to my grave thinking about these cards. History and dreams? representing the calamity and a city burning directly paralleled with the floating city and its tragedy while also representing Lucien’s dream and drive to bring it back. the tyrant? Lucien, right now, controlling not only his own party repeatedly taking control of their bodies and speaking through them, but also the mighty nein by keeping them essentially prisoners. Lucien making this world-shattering choice uncaring of the people that inhabit the world around him. the red dragon faces him, a callout to Thordak and tying Lucien to Thordak’s role in the first campaign, an arrogant king sitting on a throne in a city of ash, while also maybe implying that he is more of a pawn in the larger story than he thinks he is. death? a large change in the future. something big is going to happen, this card means extremely different things to the tombtakers than it does to the mighty nein but the card’s meaning remains the same. all of this colored by the fact that these are Mollymauk’s cards and that Molly taught Jester how to read them and Jester finished them, inspired by Molly’s character.
Lucien’s hand twitches. or is it Molly’s?
