Saw a short clip of it on YouTube Reels... and had to check it out… William is placed with Mr. Tom after his abusive mother loses temporary custody. With Mr. Tom, he learns to read and write. After he is sent back to the mother, she abuses him again, and Mr. Tom goes to check up on him after not hearing from him for weeks. It is found out the mother committed suicide after locking William and his new sister in a closet for a week (the baby does not make it) ... and when they attempt to place William back in foster care, Mr. Tom then adopts him.
