AROUND WE GO, THOMAS HOPPER
Power has always been Hopper’s main motivation in life. It’s a bug-eat-bug world out there, and Hopper always ensures he stays on top. Thomas Hopper was born into the Grasshopper biker gang. His father offered protection to Ant Island. In return, the mayor would give the Grasshoppers the supplies they need. When his father passed, Hopper took up the mantle as leader. However, he wasn’t as kind as his dad. Hopper knew they needed the people of Ant Island more than they needed them. They were outnumbered, but as long as Hopper kept them in their place, their way of life wouldn’t change. Hopper became greedy. He expected the people of Ant Island to give more than what they had to please him. He would have gotten away with it had it not been for Flik Foley. The idiot inventor hired circus clowns to help fight back against the Grasshoppers. They underestimated just how much faith Flik had given them. The tides turned, and the people of Ant Island realized their power. With no way of controlling them, Hopper left. His travels led him to Elias—well, what was left of it. By the time Hopper arrived, the city was rebuilding itself. He knew he couldn’t get ahead in a shiny utopia; however, there was a place where he could get his hands dirty. The Underland was still in its infancy when Hopper began making a name for himself. Word had gotten back to Hades of this newcomer. His ruthlessness piqued Hades’ interest. He needed the worst of the worst to be on his side, and Hopper fit the bill. The man was promised a seat at the table for a price. Hopper wasn’t used to not being in charge, but Hades made him a bargain he couldn’t refuse. He was given genetic enhancements from Vincent Frankenstein, finally being able to live up to the Grasshopper name. He was also given a division of his own to rule. There, Hopper built the Locust Fight Club. The Grasshoppers offered their protection for the people of the Underland. Those who couldn’t pay ended up in the fighting ring. They fought until their debts were paid off or they died trying. Becoming a hell-barron was the greatest thing to happen to Hopper. Business had never been better. Sure, he cheated here and there to put more people in his debt, but Hopper was going to do what was needed. Ant Island was simply a speck now in the back of his mind. That is, until he caught wind of an overzealous inventor making his way around Elias. Surely, that pesky ant who ruined his life couldn’t have followed him here. Much to Hopper’s dismay, that seemed to be the truth. There was too much at stake now; Hades would tell Hopper not to lose sight of the big picture, but Hopper would argue that if Hades wasn’t going to rid him of his problem that threatened that picture, he would do it himself. He wasn’t going to be outnumbered again.
