The curious glances leading up to the approach hadn't been lost on him in the slightest- he could sense he was being watched since he'd started asking around the town, introducing himself and making his intentions known. It was something he'd initially been a tad wary of, considering what had drawn him out here in the first place...

... but, it didn't take more than a look at the 'culprit' for him to relax, as that wasn't the gaze of someone suspicious of him, but curious.

Didn't take much for him to surmise what about by the time she seemed to finally work up the nerve, a welcoming smile greeting the teenager as she worked out the question she just had to ask.

A delighted sparkle in his eyes as he perked up in his seat.

"Well, considering I've interviewed him myself, I'd sure hope I have- would be looking at quite the chat with my boss, otherwise!"

He can't help but laugh at his own joke, warm presence melting the tension away as he set his notepad down flat in front of him, reaching out a hand for the girl to shake, if she felt so inclined.

She'd shown up in this weird place (which she thinks is one of the Underground worlds, based on the ceiling) alongside Kris & Noelle, but she'd gotten separated by aforementioned storms of sand, which the other two managed to progress past while she... took her time.

All three of them couldn't exactly fit into cover.

She was kind of hoping they'd have been waiting for her here, in this Oasis place, but she didn't see either of them sitting around...

Not that she'd even even have the chance to be disappointed by that, because her attention is instead caught by the sounds of the arcade machine being rather 'passionately; played in the core of the cafe, from where she was given a whole new reason to be disappointed.

"BERDLY?!"

The yell is accompanied by her rapidly stomping across the room to glare down the gamer, quickly scanning him up and down.

"You're not small enough to be the one living here... What the HELL are you doing?!"

Kris had pretty much accepted the barrage headed their way, shield long since knocked from their hands. They'd need time to summon it again, time they simply didn't have in the middle of this battle.

But, even as the seconds ticked by, they remained without a scratch. Opening their eyes, they blinked at the hulking figure that'd stepped before them. Susie, arms crossed over her face in rigid defense.

Then came the offered hand, the ease with which she shrugged off the gesture. They sighed, shaking their head despite their faint smile. They reached into their bag retrieve a HeartsDonut, offering it in the reprieve between attacks.

DELTARUNE CH3 STARTERS - Accepting!

She was close, she was so close! She could just FEEL it!!!

But her damned HP was low, and that was starting to show- breaths heavy and tinged with smoke from the corners of her lips as she supported her weight on her scythe, taking a moment to breath on what was looking like would be her last 'turn' of this attempt.

She could hear Kris' coaching over her shoulder, just as stressed at what was seeming like a near-victory as she was... but as they were considering their next options, all Susie could do was stare at the old coot as he gave his own comments on her predicament.

Teeth baring in her jaws, pushing herself off of the axe and onto both her feet. Kris was urging her to spend her TP on one last heal that could be the push they needed, but... strangely, she refused.

Disregarding the orders as she gripped the Devilsknife's handle, tightening fists glowing with a purple flame that made the grinning blade cackle in her hands, as she reared it back.

"Not on your LIFE, old man!"

She roared with a newfound flame bubbling from with in her, before swinging the wicked blade forwards, putting her magic into one last RUDE BUSTER that she sent careening the elder warrior's way.

" hey. hey rals, hey- " she nudges his elbow with her shoulder. " you, like....... wanna know how to like. speak oo-woo? " her form shakes briefly, a fang biting into her lip.

"Oo-woo?" Ralsei parroted back, blinking up at Susie in mild confusion and perhaps just a hint of amusement. If he didn't know any better, Ralsei would worry that this was a prank, but his curiosity was simply too strong for him to ignore.

"I DIDN'T!" a pause, shoulders seizing up in defense before slouching once more. her eyes drag themselves down onto the ground, then shoot to look away to the side. "...I didn't..." and just as slowly as the second response came, she's turning around and taking a step down the concrete road, back to them.

Kris stood there, behind the cans of trash and other various objects that were strewn about. Cloth mask pulled over their nose to avoid breathing in the paint and a hood up to avoid impromptu dyed hair- cans clattering in the messenger bag at their side and hands. Beside them was an intricately made art piece of a tunnel delving deep into a cartoon world where an effigy of the Human peeked around the corner of the supposed entrance into the realm of fantasy.

It had been an excuse to try their hand at something they hadn't touched in awhile, and when they'd seen Susie approaching? Well, how was Kris supposed to not take the opportunity to try and convince her it was real? With everything that was happening, it was probably rather believable.

Now, though, they awkwardly pulled down the mask and winced at the sight of Susie's downtrodden exit from the scene.
