You’re right. I’ve learned to live without you. But let’s not forget who taught me how to do that. You did. All the credit goes to you. The one person that I never wanted to be without, nor did I think wanted to be without me, taught me to live freely. To live on my own. To be happy on my own.Â
You’ve done things. Terrible things. Broke promises. Broke my trust. Broke my heart. Yet after everything, I still forgave you. Still gave you another chance. Still wanted us to be together. Trust me, it wasn’t an easy decision to make considering it happened twice.
No doubt we were the best thing that happened to each other. We were always there for each other and always cared for each other more than anyone else ever did. To me, you were going to be my first and last. You gave me something no one had ever given to me - meaning. You taught me what life is all about. What life is worth. You taught me everything I ever needed to survive in this cruel, cruel world. You definitely changed my life around.Â
You always told me that I changed you for the better. Made you do things you wouldn’t even think about doing. You told me I was the one who brought the best out of you. Heck, you didn’t even believe you had any good in you left! Yet, I always made you look on the bright and positive side. Made you overlook your flaws and bad habits that had you blinded from seeing the good person you are.Â
When you moved away from your home to a whole new place, I was always there for you. Right by your side 24/7. No matter what the time difference and distance between us, I always adjusted my routine so that you never felt far away from me. I tried my best to make you feel like you were not alone. Everything went great until a few months later...
You found new friends. Developed new habits. Started having different routines each day. No doubt, I was happy that you were finally fitting into your new place considering you were going to have to stay there for another 4 years. But slowly things started to drift apart. Our twenty-four hour talks slowly turned into talking for a few hours a day. Those hours turned into days and before you know it, weeks. Now guess who was the one that was left alone.Â
That was really when I started to get used to being by myself. I didn’t like the fact that we barely talked. I had no idea of all the things that you were getting yourself into. All those habits. All those people. I used to wait all day and night just to get the chance to talk to you for five minutes. Heck, even in those five minutes, we had nothing to say to each other. That’s when I realized things weren’t ever going to be the same anymore.
