Today's the day. Karkat talked about the plan, Bro's already sort of begrudgingly given his approval, and you'd just taken a shower after coming back home from a morning run with Kamina. "Yo, Karkat, y'know, you never actually gave your address, by the way," you say, walking around your room, only with a towel wrapped snugly around your hips, in search of that red flannel shirt you really liked. "You're gonna have to point the way; no sleeping when we get to Sacramento." Today's the day the two of you go to the Vantas household to pick up Karkat's older brother.
This was something that Karkat's been kind of wound up about for the past few days, worrying about his brother, about your brothers and how they would take his request. Your eldest brother in particular. Bro was definitely the for reals family man; no way would he just let it slide that Karkat had basically abandoned his family only to ask to come crawling back with his brother in tow. The brother who he had left behind. Fact of the matter is that the talk was probably going to be an ordeal, and Bro was already kind of skeptical about Karkat's reliability.
Still, by some miracle, he eventually just resigned to saying yes (you think he might've thrown his hands in the air at some point muttering 'whatever the fuck happened to moving in small tight groups' or something), and you were actually getting ready to go on a drive to Karkat's hometown.
Your jeans were tugged on, your shirt's hem was a little haphazardly tucked in and out in places in your waistband (you didn't particularly care, but Karkat was undoubtedly going to sort that out whether you liked it or not), and you were putting on your shoes, tying the laces in swift tugs as you half hopped towards Karkat. "Hey, you ready to go or what?"

Well, nothing's got me excited right now, but hey.

A few, yeah. I wear mostly boot cut, though. (Dave's the one who's always wearing skinnies.)

Kami's the main source of entertainment in this household. He's a fucking riot. You see his face? It's the face of a big, furry fucking nerd. He's so easily excited over the littlest damn thing, but he's also well disciplined, so he won't jump up on you unless he has permission (like any good dog). Rather, he'll barrel right to you, and stop about a foot away and plop his ass down, waving his tail like a flag.
Well, just yesterday afternoon when I came home from a trip to the post office, he came barreling toward me, but slipped on the wood floor when he tried to stop and rammed right into my legs. It was pretty funny, particularly the look on his face.

Nope! Sometimes his phone gets shoved under there in his sleep though, if that counts?

High on his back, just below that bump in the nape area. :BIt was an unfortunate discovery; Bro was playing with Dave when he was a kid and blew a raspberry on that spot and Dave absolutely screeched with laughter. And accidentally back kicked Bro in the nads when he thrashed.
7. Hot or lukewarm shower?
SCALDING OR FREEZING THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN GO HARD OR GO HOME and take a shower so nO ONE WINSbut really the thought of a lukewarm shower just makes Dave basically go “???????”
9. Least favourite feature about themself?
He’s got a love/hate relationship with his eyes. On one hand, he thinks it’s cool that it’s not a common color, and he definitely has an appreciation (just ask Karkat how many times he’s caught Dave admiring his [Karkat’s] eyes which are basically the same as his). On the other, they did cause him quite a bit of trouble before he started wearing colored contacts.Though one thing he probably definitely finds a little eh on the body appreciation scale would be his pale lashes.
