What do you think about Earth's character and her writing in canon? How is she like in your AUs?
*Cracks Knuckles* I can only say so much since I'm not caught up in canon and i won't give an opinion on that. BUT I can throw my thoughts into the ring cause I can say what I loved about Earth and why the transition to current I don't look at too often. (We're never calling her Terra. I'm still mad at the company for forcing that. Different topic tho) So we'll start with the obvious potentials I loved for Earth and the lil bits I like to use for my AU's
Security mode... Absolutely wouldve love to see more of that like they do in New Laes. Being utilized more. Actually something I am using for some au's cause its an element they didn't use much until later with her fighting Bloodmoon. Which is a shame because if you could imagine how that could've been used against her like what happened with Killcode and the Creator. (Kc and Earth's parallels could've also been a really big plot but thats a me thing), I'd assume somewhere before the end of her forget arc. OR OR After giving her more story with the creator bECAUSE THATS A BIG THING ABOUT HER CHARACTER. Sun and Moon may have a lot to do with him BUT SO DID SHE!
Anyway I love that we get mentions of it, and New Laes Earth uses it. Although she's more aware and present in that show than in my concepts of OG Security Mode Earth.
Two, I already mentioned this but KC and Earth... interacted once. But in regards to uh Creator's lore and how involved he was with that. They could've used KC as either a foil, or parallel with Earth and how he avoided the Family to avoid the Creator and Earth did not avoid the family. YOU COULDVE HAD REVERSES OF ROLES HERE. It especially would tie in if this was related to canon Earth and the fact she left the family to not be involved with drama. Three, very unpopular opinion only due to the deleted Debut episode of Earth and that I could've had Solar Flare and Earth meeting before things went south. That's a powerpoint im working on though so I won't elaborate more here. Now onto the timeline canon of Earth that I paid attention to. Beware this is long and has short AU stuff.
So Earth was a character I REMEMBER everyone was like OH NO theyre bringing in a SISTER. Which i also did. We dreaded this, but the moment she did arrive.... we actually got amusement. Partly Cause of Monty's obvious crush for her immediately ('Mommy?'), they toned it down a little for canon after that.
The old lost episode which is safe somewhere btw. This was the first introduction i got to this character and anyone around in the fandom at the time. So you got her soft spoken, listening to Old Moon and Monty (hilariously also just 'I support ur relationship' That was so funny), patient, not afraid to say shes supportive and definitely was just a feel for this character. I loved her immediately. It TOOK ONE EPISODE I ATE MY WORDS SO FAST.
aND THE EPSIODE WAS TAKEN DOWN. That introduction? Not canon anymore. But it lives in my heart. We move on to her canon introduction.
Which is her being not only late, cause she got distracted by flowers but because of her lateness she came at a PERFECT time for Sun. Her first introduction is comforting Sun. That's her first impression of her brother, he's having a breakdown cause he thinks he lost Moon and his hallucinations are not helping.
We find out she is coded this way to console, have therapy protocols, be loving and caring, etc. Motherly in a way. She's here to Listen to your problems. Which is immediately we got theories shes evil yknow? She WAS made by the creator after all. I much did not prefer if she was. I hated that concept, I'm so SO glad we didn't get that. She's KIND. But she's unaware of the problems she brings.
She's also just learning how much drama this is gonna be. She is not fully aware how deep-seeded that is yet. And it shows. She's naive. So for her first bit on Tsams she IS just learning, she's also learning with New Moon as well since Sun had to literally explain what was happening and why everyone hates them right now (Eclipse she has seen and saw what he did etc.)
So she's around sun and New moon the most and being the one theyre using as the Good Daycare attendant they just hired. She runs along with this. It is what she is there to do.
Lunar literally first meets her after he got revived and this was around the time the show almost pushed for Kid Lunar (With how Monty kept saying it). They backpedaled on it. So she meets Lunar just after he came back to life from a very bad traumatic experience. This is a formula. We knew what they were gonna do with this and speculations of the new show were coming around.
So her trying to keep the brothers from full on arguing, but also Sibling Dynamics i love them, Lunar having Issues and theN SUN AND MOON. DECIDE LETS STICK HIM WITH EARTH SHES NEW AND SHE WOULD BE A NEW SLATE FOR LUNAR TO TRUST WITH HIS FEELINGS ON HIS TRAUMA. The trauma is death and it was from his brother/abuser.
So she's up to this, she's okay with getting to know lunar more and help him navigate that. Except thats not what happens. Lunar is good at avoiding these things. Which she just lets happen because its his choice when to come to them. Anyway thats important for later. Earth after that during the show becomes more silly and open. She's prideful of being the baby sister and will use that. Baby sibling show, theyre happy about this. So she grows from just being out in the world from Motherly to she's a sister now, a younger sister. But someone who is trying to take on the burdens of others. And she's not... fully understanding thats a bad idea. Which doesnt help that to her, her father is loving and cares for her, would never have programmed a flaw for her. she perfect! Except... she's not. She's not suppose to be. Infact she's suppose to be a bug/spy to the family. Sending data to the Creator. Not with her knowledge of course. She's unaware of this. Which sets up a couple things for her which one hand they do go about and then the other they don't fully. Heres where my memory will be a little funky. So bear with me. But I liked this set up, she's in her own mindspace she's helping, shes with family, no reason for anyone to lie to her, shes perfect! She's doing what she needs to do.
Which this soon comes crumbling down here cause obviously everyone is aware of the fact the creator is evil and likely lying to her. And they try to tell her this MANY times. She doesn't listen. In fact she can't even acknowledge it. And thats on purpose. She's been coded to 'forget' any information deeming him in a negative way. She literally can't think of him as a bad person. She's unable to.
It solidifies more when Bloodmoon comes back and attacks her and ruins her body... and the creator fixes her. And cranks that code UP. Sun and Moon do go through her code to check on what the Creator could've done but dont find this code.
So thankfully Lunar's been going thru an astral arc of his own. And discovered he can enter her mind with some help. To see what makes her tick maybe this can help his sister. Solar is now apart of the gang and helping out where he can as well.
Lunar finds out this what creator did. Made a code named Forgor... to make her forget. She's absentminded due to it. Which is tragic cause means she didn't fully have agency or control on her own mind. And that clearly upsets her later.
And why it's a favourite arc. Cause its the start of her realizing.... shes not in fully control, shes not making all her decisions. She was lied to, and she's not perfect. Which is something she holds onto later down her character altho gets warped.
When she finally FINALLY gets her memories non-tampered with, and asks the computer. If anything her father said to her was truthful (A previous conversation he has with her was recorded, he told her he loved her.)... and gets that 'That was a lie' assessment. She's in shock. Which is AAA devastating and her realizing this... she wants more control more knowledge she's MADE with love and intent. She gets Solar and New Moon to make her a new body (its identical to her previous but made for Her and made by people who love her that she KNOWS loves her.)
Okay that was a fantastic arc cause now Earth is more aware of whats going on around her. Before she wasn't fully all there. Now SHE IS. SHE KNOWS THINGS NOW!!! SHE CAN BE MORE ACTIVE. I appreciate a lot of the set up in this area cause it's good to have a beginning with your character and how to overcome that. I also really love that this has a potential of how Earth grows from this. Theres a lot here I like to think about in regards of her character. Her turning point, which is great! You want those 'Oh boy what's she gonna do next!' You'll notice some of my AU's take a lot from around here. Cause its genuinely a lot of good elements. Which gets into the next segment and thats ... partly where she has a massive flaw but also this was a result of what the fandom was asking as well which yeah.. yeah. the Double edged sword here. The therapy episodes. Which is a delightful insight to characters motives and insight absolutely loved that bit about that with them! Thats actually what I liked about those. Also Lunar's funny bits. I love those.
I know they mentioned Earth having a license to therapy much earlier and that comes into play here. Where she IS the therapist to the characters... or well acting as one. One of the most major even I was aware of is... your family member cannot be your therapist. For several reasons but its... already biased. You can see why this won't work for Lunar anymore down the line by the way.
Earth at this point wants to be involved and gets involved. But its a bit of her own downfall cause shes getting a lot of everyones thoughts yes. But now she has all this information and she thinks she can FIX it all. Which she CAN'T. (You can read this as someone who thinks their worth is being useful in some way here.) You can't fix everyones problems, the therapy is good but when its coming from your family... its going to feel different. It'll result differently. You're gonna end up in between arguments you have seen both sides to and sometimes you have to choose. Not to mention to pressure of just... being able to handle everyones problems that you also apart of. Girl was feeding into her own issues here. Like its not much of a wonder why current canon Earth genuinely dipped the fuck out.
Understandably by the way but I don't like that decision at all but not that it doesn't make sense. It just feels too real. But that's a personal problem!
Anyway the therapy stuff only worked so well, but it didn't fix everything. It definitely didn't help her mindset of 'Maybe I can fix this person' BABBY GIRL NOOO NOOOOOOOO
Anyway thats the start Eclipse's own redemption by the way. Where Earth ignores everyone's opinions and EXPERIENCES (Stares at Lunar specifically), and tries to approach and help. She's nice this way but doesn't do that with everyone. But it is consistent of her trying this from the very beginning but then she also didn't have Context vs during this moment in time. So this... is a personal decision to reach out to someone both brothers have had a problem with (one was killed by and abused that YOURE AWARE OF) and befriend them. Which worked in helping him and a couple people! So technically a win but a very large gamble with your relationships. I won't get into Lunar's half of this here as major Lunar fan. We're here for Earth. Let her cook for a bit even if some decisions were questionable.
Regardless of that, she wanted to be his friend and got through to him vs ANYONE else. Which was a great start, shes capable of doing this.
I also haven't mentioned monty once. I didn't really wanna. I think theyre cute but when you look at how fast their relationship went and the fact Earth didn't know nothing. And her somehow being okay with his past of murder and such when she was very agaisnt that at the time. SO. Love conquers but they do feel like they enjoyed eachothers company. (Like a lot of Davis and Kat character do feel this way. Esp when the streams first came by and we got Earth and Solar bonding! Those were cute. I really wanted an earth and lunar stream still tho jsut ONE)
Anywya i dont focus on those two relationships Earth has very much as you can tell. Thats not why im here. I will mention before i forget, I appreciate they did lean toward girly Earth. Fantastic. Amazing... barbie girl... ;0; Back to the task at hand. Where was I. Ah right this is where a lot of everything gets jumbled and messy.
Because of Earths friendship with Eclipse, Luanr starts going through stuff because he's aware, and gets more upset during his Astral training and having to confront his pasts. Which leads to Lunar killing Eclipse when he's paranoid enough and can't handle it anymore. Which FANTASTIC MOMENT. Especially when we know that He'd just come back. Like this moment in time is when this is a clone eclipse, built to literally just keep coming back.
So Lunar's action is for naught, gets him in trouble, and he's reeling from this because catharsis but also not really- Even out the playing feild.
Unfortunately, this is the start where Lunar and Earth get... less comfortable with one another. Cause she witnesses this, her brother literally kills her friend in front of her and then is HAPPY (altho distraught himself actually). She's horrified. Of course she is. They do make up which I- have no words for cause I didn't watch that episode. You think I would. I did not. So i CANT COMMENT.
Now heres where I stop going down the timeline cause we get a large snowball effect from all that. and I've been at this for a moment. and You can tell where I paid the most attention.
Past this point we do get Solar's death, Earth having many moments where she is Devastated, her first actual loss in this family. She wanted to ask him to be her brother. My heart... that performance of her reacting to the news of his death. heartbreaking. Kat still peak. She goes through her grieving process, even comes to terms with it. Then her brother starts to spiral from his grieving process. Which she doesn't know how to handle nor aware of the details of what was really escalating some of that. And also some of the baffling choices in this arc and therefore after. The being warned New Moon was gonna say hurtful things and then being hurt by said thing happening. Which yes, she has a right to be upset but the way this Nexus arc goes is Everyone shuns this man to such a degree it felt unnatural. Earth's handling of it felt weird as well. It was only after when she was grieving there was SOMETHING there. She had thoughts there, but part of it was things I've seen in the fandom, and her own frustrations with her family as they AREN'T DOING ANYTHING TO HELP. And she's realizing this after losing another family member in the worst way she could've. Not in a loving way, but in a spiraling pit of darkness that she could not recognize.
Which only served to Lunar's corruption arc which almost mirrored nexus and I'm still... hmn. Hmn over that one. Did however enjoy Earths judgement on lunar and his choice of... romance. Kerian u were funny. And here lies where I locked out of most of that cause of several reasons, the nexus arc was exhausting. The Luanr corruption and just... it felt bad. I didn't wanna watch that continously. And then he hurt earth and then everyone hated lunar and then wanted to kill him- Baffling that one tbh. Earth chronic pain an interesting route, cause girl took on so much and ended up... being in the most pain there. a little disappointing they erased that later but they like to drop the old lore. OH I FORGOT. EARTH AND RUIN AND BLOODMOON BIT. I found that amusing, Earths security Mode, and BEING THREAT TO BLOODMOON... amazing i loved that sequence tbh. Cause it led into OUR SLAY QUEEN PUPPET COMIGN IN oh mygod that whole thing. I loved that, devastating to bloodmoon lovers and new moon enjoyers (which im still sad they kinda brush off his regret toward hurting earth same episode BUT WHATEVER. Its not like Earth would've liked to hear that or anything.) Now my conclusion and thoughts on Earth as a whole from start to finish She could've been used more. And i don't mean like content wise fun cause she was fun! I mean more plot wise. Cause she had connection with the Creator which was a huge antagonist in the show for so long along with Eclipse. She clearly has emotional set up with being constantly emotionally there for everyone. And part of her character was being supportive. She was a supportive role to Lunar's whole thing, which wasn't bad but when it overshadows your cohost a little its... Ah. Same with Sun and Moon (both), she's still handing advice out like SHES the older sibling. (Or i suppose in more accurate clauses with current canon I guess, is that shes mellowed out and has an outside perspective?), She's a supportive role. Which I assume is what they tried to break her out of.
I enjoy her sillies and her earlier moments on Laes when it WAS focused on her. And i find myself just not paying attention to the romance bit even though that was a huge thing for her on the show. Thats a personal preference though, not due to it being a bad relationship. Theyre quite cute and Love monty's devotion to her. She's endearing to me for who she was and could've been. A lot of the end of Laes and current canon doesn't... hit the same like before. The bittersweet ending hurts me... SHE SAID GOODBYE AND I WASNT READY. But that was the first Laes. Laes 2.0... I wish I could watch more cause genuinely whenever i pop in its actively fun. I like the character direction to what theyre doing with Earth here, sort of an echo of OG Earth where she's relied on too heavy and it has consequences. But this seems more focused on HER AND IM HERE FOR IT. I have no... real thoughts on president Earth though. Evil lady but also... Sighs. She sexy but she's just not the same. Love Neko's design for her.
But all in all, I do love Earth, she's always a delight. Very beautiful whenever I see her. I would love a hug form her. I hope my rambles make sense as not fully critical but what I've seen and hopefully explains where I am. And why I love my girl.
And now onto my Au's what she's like in there not that you've read all that. Maybe.
So, I've already talked about KC and Earth's whole potential, it is something I want to explore more cause genuinely... we have something here.
Take example my Bean Eclipse AU Earth, not properly established what she's doing over there other than being friends with Solar Flare and knowing KC. But I have looked at my KC and Earth comic and I like the idea of putting that in Bean Au. Other wise i'd have to make a whole new au with the Earth and Killcode Show.
But she does have parts in this au that I've drafted that IS important It's just we have not gotten there YET. But upcoming stuff would entail a Earth And KC comic, Earth and Solar Flare (because they have something in common here).
Her character more stems from the original before Lunar and Earth show so she's still naive and learning her role here. Which will be going a different route from canon a lil due to KC. You can maybe guess why. But she's not going the Therapist route.
Space Earth I can't talk about you forever but I love her so much. Originally was gonna opt for a Big Sister vibe but she turned into Mom and we roll with it. She's like the big hologram lady from the SciFI movie. She's knowledgeable but she's very friendly and built to be informative and social. However, due to the coding of trying to make her Mother Earth she did form an attachment to a couple series of celestial robots she looks after. She's emotional over them but can handle large decisions when needed. Since she is in charge of the Planet Earths systems.
I DO actually have an AU that explores more the OG deleted episode Earth. Rain Earth, she's more on the 'Maybe if we let them explain perhaps we'll know their reasoning' kinda gal. This changes a couple events in the show though since how early that was in the timeline (Lunar being still alive, Eclipse doesnt have the star, Solar Flare is roaming, KC is a villain still). She meets Solar Flare in that one and like my original doodles they do become friends. Swap AU is interesting cause I can technically talk about two characters. Space and Crater. Swaps of Earth and Solar Flare.
Crater is still that AI thats built to follow orders, body guard, retrieve information if needed. She's not built to be something that is smart, just retains information. However due to her and Space and even Roxy's interference she's learning. Albiet slowly. Space has patience with her cause unlike Roxy or Eclipse or Lunar, she doesn't understand intent. Space is smart though, built to be in charge of the Daycare and thus seems to butt heads with Eclipse the most over it. Is aware of Roxy's infatuation with him and tries not to acknowledge it.
Space has a soft spot for those who do need help and Crater doesn't understand intent behind orders, which leads to him trying to teach her that. Which she registers as information to gather. it becomes more apparent to Moon later she IS learning from this. As she's making decisions based on them.
And Of course of course of course OF COURSE Earths Core- EC. My male Earth. My sweetheart with a bit of southern in him. Wrong place wrong time but not where he doesnt want to be either. He's a caring strong guy a little silly. Works in Fazerblast and not the daycare where he was intended to be. (It's closed and no one tells him why. So Freddi puts him somewhere else.) He's also brought a lil friend/gremlin woman. Chi, a female bloodmoon. He's convinced her to stay with him as he is also one who can do repairs (He's learning tho so its not all perfect). They meet the theatre attendant and become the loser squad together <3
I also have Bee Queen Earth from recent, she's in development thought but sad lady... easy comforted though.
Also my evil Earth who's more godly I love her design since its based on some Epic stuff.
Also Abandonment World Earths- Gaia our LOVELY baker who predates canon's bakery stuff now. Lives in a floating city and falls for a certain Lord Eclipse. (more like he falls for her but you;re asking about Earth) I'm not one to normally use Evil aspects for Earth. I also love using the security mode stuff. so im biased there. Cause part of it is mental battles. And that's thoughts on Earth! Maybe. there might be more but tis been.... a while. this is how many words- about 4000 words. Any other question you can ask if theres something I didnt clarify. There is a sensible hold back on some due to it being more connected to another character and not jsut her. Hope you enjoyed my Earth Rambles.
