I caught the Picrew bug, and the last post I did made me want to design all of my main OCs in it and gather them all in one place :3
(the picrew is here)
I figured I'd start in order, so y'all know who I'm talking about when I reference The OGs. A majority of these OCs are from DnD, but I have a few from FFXIV that have stayed with me for almost 10 years as well!
1. Tesla
My first DnD character, a Halfling Rogue. I totally made her trying to min-max the stats and "win" at DnD. I'm sure my DM ~loved~ me trying to sidle up to every merchant our party came in contact with and bargain them down to 50% of their prices at👏every👏turn👏
My most high-leveled character, though! The last time I left her she was level 18, owned a speakeasy with a secret trade route with the Zhentarim and local Goblin gangs, and with a bag of nails about 5 pounds heavy. Miss Take No Shit, Take Yo Shit.
2. Silven
My *second* DnD character, a Human Artificer. This was a game right after our first campaign ended, and the DM told us that we'd be doing Hardcore Mode on the campaign. Tougher monsters, middle of nowhere, death saves were at 15, crit hits against our characters would have lasting consequences, The Whole Shebang. I guess we were masochists at the time, because we all agreed! The biggest defining moment of this character that I'll always remember is when our party stumbled into the Feywild in the middle of a Hunt. Our characters were invited to hunt stag and game and sit down at a feast, only for the illusion to drop and show that our characters were killing and eating Other Humans. Big fucked up moment for all involved, it was Great :D
3. Nova
THE GOAT!!!!! THE GOAT!!!!! Out of all of my OCs, this is the one that has stuck around the longest. This is my first FFXIV character, the one that has become so much a part of my online identity that I worry that people see her as a self insert (I always feel like I have to clarify. Nova the Character is different from Nova the Person. I went by another name when I actually made Nova, but I started doing so much online as Nova that I decided to just change over and use the name. :D) She's my main Warrior of Light character and the one that I project all of my insecurities of responsibility onto. Every time I struggle with adult shit in real life I go, "This Fucking Sucks. But at least I'm not Nova."
She is also the character I like to play Dolls with and dress up in fun outfits and spin my in-game camera around and around and look at how pretty she is. She is my Done With This Shit queen and she can do no wrong <3
4. Uin
My second FFXIV OC! I made them when I really started getting into FFXIV roleplay. Specifically made him to be The White Boy of my lineup, but I headcanon that if they ever ate mayonnaise that they would spit it out and find out who tried to curse them. They're a baby that was found by pixies and raised as one of them. Basically, the idea behind them was "If humans raise the changeling in the mortal world, what happens to the human baby that the fey take?" I was watching The Ancient Magus Bride at the time and was very inspired by the character Shanahan (Google him if you want, they are basically the exact same Personality-wise) I also give them a tragic backstory where they're basically over 100 years old but don't remember it because the fey keep erasing their memory every time they remember their past. I'm sure it's fine.✨Brain Damage Queen! ✨
5. Ophelia
A half-elf character made for an online DnD campaign with strangers. She's my first Celestial Warlock! My DM was so kind to help me come up with an intriguing Charlatan background for her, and I had many wonderful times bullshitting party members with her "future telling" abilities. Crazy that she actually started being able to tell the future and was Wracked With Visions and warnings of the Very Real Dangers that were coming for her and the party! :D
Oracle of Delphi who?
6. Ilian
My tragic.....tragic girl.....Ilian <3 The story of the Scourge Soul Aasimar Sorcerer Ilian is one of Shakespearean Tragedy. Born into a homebrew world where the gods were either absent, missing, weakening, or dying, the kingdoms of the world were thrust into turmoil. Maybe if Ilian and her party were just unsuccessful enough, if they failed in the right place, if they gave up before it was too late, they could have died in ignorance. But knowledge of the gods will always land on those unlucky enough to see it. Ilian and her party saved the world and restored the balance, but she lives forever as the Goddess of the Sun, Harvest, and Change of Seasons on the other side of The Veil. She is forever separated from her friends, family, and loved ones in order to keep the universe stable. Until the end of the World, or at least until the time when she also decides to step down and thrust her birthplace into chaos.
8. Breo
Breo is a character that I made for the same campaign as Ilian. There was a moment where Ilian was captured and put in prison, (She was trying to save a member of her party from dying, it didn't work <3) and I still needed a character to play at the table. I'm gonna say it, I think about Breo more than I actually played him, which is So sad. I miss him!! He was the childhood best friend of Ilian, real geek-next-door type. He grew up to be a scholar, inventor, and....most devout worshiper of the woman that he fell in love with. So sad...he didn't even know that he never had a chance....
9. Tide
My newest boy!! Most special guy!! The picrew unfortunately doesn't have the dark shade of blue that I want to use for his skin, so we can pretend that this is his "human glamour" or something. Taking a break from the DND and FFXIV characters, this is my Ghoul oc for the band Ghost!
He's a water ghoul summoned around Secondo's era. I imagine him being summoned by the clergy as a kind of bodyguard/protector/Keep An Eye On The Big Guy And Pull Him Out Of The Mosh Pit When He Gets Too Wild kind of ghoul. He takes his job Very seriously, and was known for having a solemn and scary stage presence. After the coup where Primo, Secondo, and Terzo were killed, he stayed with the ministry. He believes that his existence is owed to the ones who raised him from the Hells, and I am kind of....wanting to bide his time until either Copia or The New Guy discover him skulking behind a shelf somewhere and dust him off. Tide deserves to rediscover the world and discover joy and whimsy!
(I mostly talked about him in DMs with a friend, and granted him My Autism™ here)
Ending this with a picrew of me! Your local Indigenous Ace writing nerd o7 If anyone wants to talk to me about my little guys, asks are always appreciated! I will take Any Chance to talk about the fucking Character
I've been taking care to tag posts about my OCs specifically with "this is (insert character name here)" so I'm a bit more organized in regards to my OCs. I'll put the tags here at the bottom! I also use "this is Spit" as a specific tag for my cat, lol.
She may not be an OC, but she is very much A Character
