I don't have the brain power to do a whole coherent thing about it right now but there's something about the ways that apocalyptic fiction and doomsdaycult delusions follow the exact same playbook, only one takes it seriously and one knows it's just fucking around, and that feels like it's a fertile ground for commentary. Like the fact that the literal Nazi rhetoric around the volksreich and the grotesque middle class fixation on the working class and the hollow superficial exaltation of the farmer and the revelry in the fall of the slightly higher middle class liberal is beat for beat mirrored in every apocalyptic survivalist media ever. Only, again, a buncha sci-fi/horror writers are just having fun and know their scenario is full of shit, and every crackpot with a bunker and a fetish for WWII paraphernalia thinks that shit is real. But like take it to the next logical step. Deconstruct the neonazi fantasy let their fantasy play out within the context of the fiction and show how stupid it is, and ya know, casually just happen to redefine the genre while you're at it. Because that delusional fantasy of the noble subsistence farmer*
