cid is a proud man, he was made the lord commander of waloed in three years, he's overseen victories for waloed against beastmen and rebels; to him, he's reached where he did for his work and not by some grace. So yes, he's proud. Even when he speaks to the king, he says "my liege" with a smirk, a playful, mischievous smile, for he doesn't deem himself lower. His bow is barely noticeable sometimes— he merely bows his head or courtly nods in acknowledgement.
