Language Portfolio Task 7
Two short texts about Manchester and my home town Southport.

Language Portfolio Task 1
Today we did our first recorded assessment! In pairs we spoke in Spanish, introducing ourselves, as well as spelling our surnames and sharing where we live.
The process was illuminating because it was the first time we had properly had a "full" conversation, as it were. In comparison to class where we engage in more of a call and response with our tutor, it was nice to feel more of a flow to the speech me and my partner Annette recorded for the assessment. I was also surprised by how quickly we managed to do the recording to say we've only been on this course for four days.
Though the conversation was only short, it perfectly encapsulates everything we've learned this past week. I will attach the transcript for the recording below, and then upload the video itself in a separate post.
(Al is my speech, and An is Annette's, also sorry about my handwriting)
¡Hasta mañana!
los estudios continúan
Here's another stupidly late post. Lo siento llegar tarde (that's something I learned these two days!).
Prior to the session:
Though slightly anxious to meet more students I felt confident I would remember the phrases we learned yesterday so overall felt good going into today's session. My sims for today were engage more in class as I knew there would be more students today.
During the session:
Recalling phrases from yesterday was much easier in a bigger class and this helped me to reach my daily aim. I feel it also helped me reach my overall aim to engage with the new teaching style. We pushed our learning further and started to use the Spanish alphabet. This initially seemed a little daunting to me as my previous experience with it hadn't been great. However, the more we did exercises the more confidence I gained and despite some reluctance at the start, by the end of the session I felt more secure in answering questions.
Post-session thoughts:
¡he tenido un gran avance! Regardless of the little voice in my head telling me I'll never remember the entire Spanish alphabet (even after the session) I think I've cracked it! Back home I've been muttering the alphabet to myself as I went about my errands and I'm hoping it'll stick. I feel much more confident in the phrases we need to remember, especially given that our first assessment is coming up soon. Onwards and upwards amigos.
¡Hasta mañana!
