A different Point of View- Third Stories.
My inspiration began from my interest in physical collages and I originally aimed to create a physical piece of work, reflecting on this. To help move my work forward I decided to have a look at different textures and materials which I could either photograph as part of my collage, or use as a physical texture within my work. Moving forward I intend on taking photos for inspiration as well as using secondary sourced images.
Based around the secondary sourced imagery that I found, I created 2 collages to emphasise the contrast between old and new. I searched a number of websites for photos of contrasted buildings. I wanted to highlight the beauty of architecture from both the past and present to exaggerate my storyline.
I created a line drawing based on the collages so that I could play around with them on photoshop and manipulate its original form. I liked the contrast of the busy buildings towards the front against the emptiness of the top right. The sketchy feel helped to exaggerate the main body of the illustration.
I decided to put my line drawing into photoshop so that I could manipulate it freely and see which colours worked well with the image. Whilst changing the colour of the drawings itself, I also decided to manipulate the background it sat against to see if this changed the mood of the artwork.
I visited Bournemouth Beach and Pier in hopes of getting a better understanding of perspective. I took a range of photos which vary from Birds Eye view to worm eye view to extreme long shots e.c.t. Whilst walking around I noticed a lot of decay and signage which had obvious wear from weather through the years. Visiting and seeing a variety of different aged buildings helped me to move my work forward as it meant I had a better understanding of how my research correlates to the way I display my final series.
