John sighed, and pushed out the flap of his tent, straightening his coat while adjusting his eyes to the blazing light of the morning. Â Reveille had been sounded, his men were lining up for roll call, it was cold but clear. Â John scratched his beard, yawning, thinking he'd need to shave soon as he rolled his shoulders and went out to the gathering square. Â
"Morning, gents." he greeted them, smiling gently while the other officers took out the sheets of names to start calling attendance. Â John himself set to work going down the rows to correct posture or buttons, checking rifles, making jokes or greetings with each.
