Oh boi I keep changing my ideas around about them but I really need them intertwined in weird ways.
Their whole acquaintanceship was so weird in D1 times. A LOT of tension, on Uldren's side it was definitely a lot of disdain and scorn (hehe). She's everything he used to both hate and love. She's smart, cunning, very Hunter-y. Good with a knife. But also in that time she was righteous, extremely Vanguard-y. And she was head over heels for Uldren, like embarrassingly so. It's definitely an enemies to lovers situation.
I'm still struggling to come up with a good enough story for their D1 times and later, but I'll get there. I know that in the run up and during Forsaken, she pitied Uldren and did NOT support Cayde or Petra in Uldren's imprisonment, and it was actually one of the big motivators for her to eventually turn away from the Vanguard.
I like to think that in the back of his mind Uldren did like her for the qualities he finds special. But she was a Guardian first to him, so it was all too natural to hate her instead.
