Vertical Farming - How Controlled Environment Agriculture Can Reshape Cities
The biggest challenge for humanity is not how we can reduce CO2-emissions or how we will feed 9 billion people by 2050. No, the biggest challenge for us, as a species and as a society is: how will we convert our way of living to be in sync with ourselves, nature and this planet.
Vertical Farming is not the answer to all our prayers, yet it holds many possibilities as it affects all foundations of our current society: food, water, energy & housing. Hence, if done “right”, vertical farming can help to change our civilization at its core.
In this DIF open mic session we will be sitting in with key players in vertical and controlled environment farming: Aquaculture, Mushroom, Insect and plant cultivation.
The speakers will give a brief overview about their practice and how it applies to one or more of the 3 key themes of the 2016 DIF-conference (Future of Work, Regenerative Cities and System Reset). And of course, there will be a forum for the audience to engage with the experts, we encourage questions and comments!
Is vertical farming a disruptive innovation?
