Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving from across the pond!
It is strange to be celebrating an American holiday in a country that is..not American. The Irish just don’t understand why we have Thanksgiving, and to be fair I do understand that Thanksgiving has been commercialized like most holidays and its meaning has been changed and lost over the years but that’s not what I’m here to write about and now I am just blabbering. I would like to take this time to acknowledge all the things in my life that are super awesome and that I am so very grateful for.Â
This awesome opportunity I’ve been given to study here in Galway. My home University has been so good in helping me get here and NUIG has been very accepting, and it is all around awesome.Â
My fabulous friends. Even though we are thousands of miles apart, my besties back in the ‘Burgh are always watching out for me. I miss them so much but am overwhelmed by the amount of support and love they are sending me from so far away. Even though it’ll be hard to leave Ireland I know that Senior year will rock with them by my side.Â
Finally and most importantly, my family. I always struggle when attempting to write about my family since everything I say sounds like something from a Hallmark card, but maybe that’s just because my family is the kind Hallmark would want to write about. They are so incredibly loving and supportive. I am constantly encouraged to be strong and independent and passionate. I would not be who I am without their presence, and I love me, and I love them and am so proud to be part of my amazing family.Â
My life is good. There are countless things I am thankful for. I have been given so much and try to remember it everyday, but today I get to share it with all of you, too. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving day, no matter where in the world you are!
