If I'm out of line or missing something, I would love if one of my beautiful followers told me. I don't want to be a garbage can. If I'm being truly awful, I'd like to fix it. However, it's hard to do any of these things when body positive seems to leave me out. Now, I'm by no means demanding that fat positivity includes me. That is a space for them, they can say 'fuck skinny people and I hope they die,' they can do and say whatever they want. It's only right. I'm not trying to inject myself into places I don't belong. However, I do have a place in body positivity. I think the thing that people need to recognize is that literally, no one wins. Everyone's body is considered 'wrong' somewhere, and that's the major problem. We need to get to a place of actual acceptance, where everyone's bodies are beautiful and wonderful and don't need changing. Glorifying thinness and accepting it are two TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS. Let's be clear on that. Don't feed me this 'the world was made for you, you don't have an opinion.' The world wasn't made for me. I am also told that I weigh too much. Isn't that fuckin' weird? Within the same conversation, though, I've been told I need 'a little more umph' and both of these things have come from modeling agencies - the people who supposedly 'made the world for me.' My intelligence is challenged because of how I look. I face health problems as a result of my body - hair loss, poor skin, both insomnia and hypersomnia, weak bones and joints, an very irregular menstrual cycles, to name a few - and a lot of it is tied to my inability to gain weight. Not to mention sexual harassment and street harassment I deal with, which I've literally had people justify by saying, "well with a body like that..." So no. No, I don't win. Thinness is this thing that's obsessed-over and treated as some kind of ultimate goal, and that's not a positive way to look at it. And I don't need fat positivity tearing me down either. I'd also like to point out that I see a lot of people saying 'thin people oppress me.' That's just not true. Thin people don't oppress you - popular media and pop culture oppress you by glorifying and obsessively idolizing us (a kind of oppression), rewarding those that play into harmful ideologies in order to keep them from questioning it, and tearing you down (the worse of the oppression). I am not allowed to ask for space in fat positivity. That's not for me. I will, however, demand my place in body positivity, a space created for everyone to love themselves and raise up others, not tear people down to make yourself feel better.
