V O L T U R I (the redeux) An R rated adaption

While the Cullens & co stand in separate small groups:

The Volturi walk in a straight line, so that it is immediately obvious how numerous their army is, and appearing as a strong united front (rather than a random collection of people like the Cullens and others appear):

They only start to separate when they come closer, and even then the way they re-arrange themselves follows a strict hierarchy, the trio of rulers at the front, their most powerful guards right behind them (the strongest, and arguably less valuable, on the sides - Felix and Demetri - while the tiny Jane and Alec are in the middle). The rest of the army continues walking in a straight line, with the exception of Aro and Caius’s wives, who are surrounded by guards themselves for protection:

The way they present themselves is calculated to appear grand, unstoppable and to inspire fear. Basically an intimidation technique. 

There’s also no reason for them to walk so slow - at the end they leave very quickly:

But when they appear, it’s slow, so that there is time for that fear and intimidation to develop. It’s also very similar to how murderers move in horror movies. The victim would be running and trying to get away, but the murderer would walk slowly, patiently. There’s a sense of inevitability to it, that they will win no matter what.
