Some years ago- almost 20 years ago, @christopher_schwank convinced me to start gardening. And to garden without chemicals. I had very little experience with gardening, didnt really have a thought about chemicals… I suppose I assumedwe would just use them because that's what people did. Like most of the interesting things that Chris has introduced me to, camping, hiking, motorcycling, mushrooms it's become part of my life that I enjoy. This post is to remind people that using chemicals doesn't matter in growth and production, that of course, it can really make things a lot worse… And not using them can work amazingly… Those tomato plants are 6 feet high that's pretty normal for us. That raised bed is packed full of zucchini and peppers , tomatoes and herbs, sunflowers, dahlias, and Nasturtiums and marigolds. Yes we have weeds and yes cottage gardening isnt for some people that are into tidy beds and they don't like how everything crowds together the way we do... this system keeps down weeds but we still have pull weeds. Much of this we started as seed. I love our unruly garden and I wish more people would feel confident to garden without chemicals as - clearly- plants do great. #almosttheweasleys #theburrow #theunrulykitchen #inthegarden #indiana #indianapolis #emilyschwankphotographer
