cliff hangs out with a lot of old people!!! he's kind of classically handsome and very boyishly charming like a puppy, but otherwise or maybe despite this isn't really seen as very cool. but he also isn't trying to be--his interest is mostly planes, so he wants to hang out with the plane guys and most of them are older folks like peevy & other retired pilots and stuff. he doesn't really have a ton of friends other than the crowd at the bull dog cafe which is basically the crowd that you would see in like any bar setting in a sitcom or diner. think the very classic waitress and all the regular guys who drink their beers and reminisce. cliff loves these guys.

the other big crowd in his life is going to be the big hollywood types that betty knows or is trying to meet and they are just far less people that cliff enjoys. they tend to kind of make him feel like an idiot because he doesn't know what to say to them or what a lot of the social norms for them are. and it's pretty clear to everyone that he's the average boyfriend who managed to score a girl so much better than him and it's only so long before she dumps him for one of them and leaves him in the dirt where he belongs.

❝    aw heck...   ❞   clark was seeing double when he felt the heaviness of a  (   well crafted , clark knows a quality cape when he feels one   ) cape over him. blue...    batman ?   no no. that heart beat was not quite right. it was someone else entirely. kal couldn't see right. however, he could smell this man.    ❝    who am i smellin' ...   i mean,       who is this ?  ❞

clark begins to stumble on top of his red boots with the blue cape still upon his shoulders.   ❝   ugh        did i win ?  i punched something really hard. it also punched me. oh- thank you ...  'scuse me, what do i call you   ?   ❞   he's pointing in the wrong direction. give it a few more moments and everything will be right in his senses again ... !

yelena is snapped out of her thoughts by the soft sound of a mug being placed on the table in front of her. she blinks, once, twice, gaping at the drink before she slowly looks up at— @thesntry.

❝ is that for me? ❞ she asks, then grimaces when she realises how stupid of a question that is. she was out of it, lost in thought and suffocating a little under them. she thought she was being subtle, unobtrusive in the chair she'd claimed for herself, but clearly he'd noticed. noticed enough to bring her a warm drink. she closes her fingers around the mug, lets the warmth seep into her bones.
